How do I make friends with the cabal?

There's only a few ways I've discovered.

1: locate a cabalero in any bar that can support pirate contacts. Bet on the dice for a small faction increase and potentially unlock a cabal contact?(testing needed). Don't drop illegal drugs, they generally don't like that

2: Every roaming fleet of cabal raiders can be interacted with to gain faction rating either by 'donating' to the cause or spending a story point to fast talk your way out of paying them. They can ask for any high tech item, colony items, weapons, fighters, ships, and in the absence of all those just a boatload of credits. Paying them like this is among the fastest ways ive found to gain faction rating.

If you want there ships you really only need them at inhospitable. That will let you dock at port tse and tibicena (transponder off), pay a one off fee for that visit and a huge markup and u can buy there ships like that. Or go around blowing them up and recovering them.

Getting friendly allows you to buy the ship blueprint package from tibicena, co-operative lets u buy some nice colony items including a pristine nanoforge as well as reducing the cost of there ships/weapons.

There may be other ways to gain factions, these are the ones ive found. hope this helps

Thank you so much for making and maintaining this mod! I'm really loving using the Infernal Machine and its various upgrades.

I wanted to ask, the Onslaught's Thermal Pulse Cannon costs 150 flux per shot. But the Dragon's Light TPC and the Infernal Machine's Hellfire and Diablo Cannon cost 200 flux per shot, though they seem to be based off of the Onslaught's Thermal Pulse Cannon. Is this intentional?

I enjoy this mod a lot. Really fills out the pirates and the Starlight Cabal is one of my favorite ways to burn storypoints so I can level faster since you gain faction rep with them.

In my head canon, this represents the pirate faction jury rigging salvaged technology into a state that is functional albeit less efficient than the onslaught TPC. Bear in mind the onslaught is a very old domain era design that would be considered “tried and true” so they’ve had a long time to work out the kinks. Also most hegemony tech is built from a pristine nano forge, something the pirates almost certainly lack.

Is there any starlight cabal content beyond their secret club house markets? In previous playthrough remember getting the rep with them to maybe neutral by "donating" stuff when asked, and then they stopped asking.  Are there missions, cool ships that go beyond pink painting, alliance with them maybe (nexerelin, aot integrations)?

   If you are lucky, one of the cabaleros that appear in the bar event can become an agent of yours and therefore allow you to increase rep with the Cabal doing missions for them. Then there is the Starlight Gala Parade (or something like that) roaming around the Core Worlds, with its unique Starlight Palace Behemoth of a Ship as a prime target for extermination, which will award you a very juicy amount of loot. Pay atention to the signature Cabal Music while traveling, since that is a tip meaning that the annoying rascals are nearby. I don't think there is any Cabal mission content ATM beyond those executed for one of its agents. Maybe Dark Revenant introduces something new in future updates.

Not much to report here, just a compatibility update.  No new major features, just some bug fixes and an updated sprite.

- Updated for Starsector 0.98a
- New sprite for the Shark, courtesy of BigBeans
- Player portraits no longer include IBB
- Fixed rare Cabal-related weapon/fighter crash on interaction
- Light TPC flux cost reduced to 150 to match real TPC (Hellfire unchanged)

i have resonable suspicion that your newest update (1.8.4) is screwing up my save because the game doesn't recognise the character pictures, specifically the Alpha Core one.
(i suspect this because i can NOT find it when i try to make a new game)

i would try to provide more info, bu i have no idea what i would need to include

That one is only loaded by the game if you have SWP enabled, and it can’t be selected as a player portrait (unless you manually add it as an option).  I took the IBB portraits off the player faction list.
