i agree the term by itself would better imply the mount's function, but in practise the different multi-mount types are something the player just needs to learn anyway. "dynamic" still doesn't exactly make it clear that it can use energy and missile weapons, specifically. the same is true for "composite" being ballistic and missile. "hybrid" and "universal" are easier to guess, but many new players will likely still wonder what these do until they see for themselves (or, eventually, until a tutorial explains the details).
so ultimately i think the different terms just need to 1) sound nice and 2) be easy to remember once the player already knows what they do. and "synergy" does fulfill both of these requirements, imo.
