That should really be a thing, imo.  Enemy of my enemy is my enemy if I want to join that party.

Alex has said no 3 way battles though. Causes AI problems and it becomes messy.

Brought up before: What keeps me from "accidentally" blowing up a few allies in the course of the battle? (And even if I don't do that, I'd still have an incentive to sit back and letting the other two fleets bleed each other thoroughly first, though this also happens to an extent with regular ally battles)

Still it'd be nice for RP reasons against worse-than-enemies factions (e.g. Templars).

I want to join the battle to kill them all.  Make both enemies join together temporarily to fight or flee from you, especially if you are the greater threat.  Two small animals standing off will stop what they are doing and run away once a human or other predator comes near.

Instead of having to fly around and watch them slug it out, make them break up the battle and face you one at a time if you choose to interrupt.

Ideally there would be 3 way battles. If that's too difficult, then something a bit weird like making them instantly break it up and fight you either one at a time or together is preferable to sometimes having to wait weeks for the battle to finish.

Having them both attack you together is, in my opinion, more natural and conducive to interesting gameplay than just having to wait their battle out.

That means they'd be fighting together on the same side, which doesn't seem very reasonable. More likely one (or both) would make a break for it while (hopefully) leaving the other to slow you down.

I could see adding a "break it up" option if your fleet is sufficiently large, though. Have it written down somewhere, just haven't gotten to it.
