Inspired by someone else asking a similar question elsewhere. I know there are some enemies that have fleetwide skills, such as the ECM booster or Derelict Operations. I also know that the player (and his officers) are seemingly the only non-plot characters who can survive their ships being blown up, allowing 'assassinations' of bounty targets without destroying the rest of their fleets. Does this mean that killing the commanding ship of an enemy fleet disables any fleetwide abilities? If not, does retreating and then re-engaging do this?

It brings a lot of interesting Ender's Game - style ideas to mind, like a bounty commanded by a green tree - specialized captain who can be taken out prematurely by a sufficiently-aggressive player.

If this isn't a thing then it really should be.

Does taking out your flagship disable *your* command skills?

That's just it - taking out the player's flagship explicitly doesn't kill him, whereas taking out an NPC flagship explicitly does kill its commanding officer.
