My experience with them (as an backline admiral) is, like other directed energy missiles, they do a lot of damage at the start of combat then you run out.  That's on top of them being easier to shoot down (larger ships) or move out of range (smaller ships).

They are one of my favorite misiles on Pegasus, only downside is slow wind up time, in which they could be shoot down, If it would be faster would be better, I agree.

But they are still very good. Have auto aim, and hit HARD, if aren't shoot down.

And beam range protects them from small PD. But they are bad against ships like Onslaught, as it has really good PD, especially on front side. But they would annihilate anything without good PD.

Expanded Missile racks + Officer with missiles skill, and you are good to go! Won't run out of them before the end of a fight.

Hint, the Vigilance exists.

  • Dragonfire in the missile slot
  • Hypervelocity Driver or Autocannon in the gun slot
  • ECM Package, Nav Relay, or Efficiency Overhaul for fleet support
  • Expanded Missile Racks, Hardened Shields, or Solar Shielding for fire support

I try to get two of these ships as quickly as possible, they are absolutely amazing frigates that pair nicely with any kind of Cruiser or Destroyer. We don't really care about range or rate of fire since Drivers will already give this Vigilance the ability to out fight any other similar sized ship in a spaced out fire fight. Dragonfires allow this little ship to really punch up however, and it's especially good as a finisher capable of keeping up shield pressure on fleeing fluxed ships while also blasting apart anything that isn't a Capital.

Y'know what, I'll go try that. Thanks.
