New player question re: Storage
« on: November 15, 2022, 07:49:20 PM »

Less than 1-day in game...started Campaign, and was given 'storage' space at Ancyra Orbital Facility, in Galatia Star System.  I'm tasked now with traveling to another System -- will I have access to the same storage space in other systems, or do I have to physically go to the Facility where the storage is to be able to access it?

If I have to come back to Ancyra to access the storage there, as brand new player would I be better off selling all the low-level wpn's and stuff I've scavenged, rather than paying the storage fee to keep things I presume I will outgrow as I level up?  I will learn what's worth keeping and what's 'vendor trash' -- but for now I was putting most into the storage; then when I got this new mission/quest had the thought maybe it's not worth keeping if I'm going to have to use fuel/time to come back to it somewhere down the road.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Storage is on a per planet basis.  So if you have storage on Ancyra, you have to pay separately for storage on Jangala in Corvus.  And you have to fly to your stuff.  No shared inventory between planets.

However, I will point out there is an abandoned station in orbit of Asharu in Corvus, which has free storage (and a free transport ship), that doesn't cost an upkeep fee.  You can dump as much stuff as you want there and it will never cost anything.  There's a couple other abandoned stations scattered around where you can do something similar, but I find Corvus centrally located enough.

Personally, I'm a weapon packrat, and until I've got my own colonies (which also provide free storage without a fee), I typically store every weapon I find there, as well as stash ships there when I don't need them.  For example when trying to be stealthy for some missions, or going out on deep space exploration missions and don't want to drag along a capital.  Since weapon spawning is RNG, I like having my options.  In fact, if I see good rare weapons, but don't have ships for them yet, I'll buy them and dump them in that station as well.

Pretty much the same for me, except I'll generally use the Siphon Platform in Yma. It's in orbit around a gas giant, so it's easy to drop in right on top of it, where I have to have Transverse Jump and pay attention to enter Corvus on top of Asharu.
