Discussions / No internets. :(
« on: January 02, 2013, 06:40:34 AM »
So, it seems i don't have any internet. I changed my ISP earlier, and when i phoned them about this, they just told me that there are problems with my IP address. Anyone that could perhaps give me more info on what problem i could have?

Tech support said they'd try to fix it later. Dunno when.

Discussions / Thinking of creating my own game.
« on: December 28, 2012, 05:07:57 AM »
Heh, well, i've been going around with this thought for quite a while now, and i just wanted to hear your guys opinions on this, and what can be improved/discarded in favor of something else.

I'll give you a blunt version of what the game would be like.

The game will be an arena-style game with vast arenas (not too big, but decently sized, approx.. 100-500sq km) with an all-out war between the two teams. There would be 3-4 factions featured at launch, each with their own unique set of ships and guns. The battles would be fought an array of different weapons, such as: Missiles, kinetics, lasers, anti-matter, ECM, ECCM, etc.
The ships themselves would be customizable, and you could add more weapons slots to an already existing ship, but if you exceed the tonnage limit of the ship, things will start to break down in battle, and you might not be able to repair them after battle, and might need to buy another component completely.

So, whaddya think? ;)

As it happens, on every ModDB download page and such, ot always says that the requested item is not on the server. I suspect my browser may be blocking it. How can i possibly fix this without reverting to a different browser? I'm using google chrome right now.

Discussions / Multiplayer games we all share in common.
« on: December 16, 2012, 11:02:58 AM »
Just thought i'd ask here on the forums and see whoever has what game, and see if we can play in the near foreseeable future.

Personally, i have:

Iron Front 1944 Liberation
Men of War (all of them! :D)
Company of Heroes

And alot more. I guess we could just limit this to RTS's and all that. Maybe more? We'll see.

So, who is up for it? :D

The Fitzroy link
A movie about a submarine hotel set in a post-apocalyptical world of the fifties, where the entire surface of the world has been covered in a deadly gas, and everyone is forced to wear gas-masks, or face death. The fitzroy is an submarine hotel that is spared from this mostly because it stays underwater, but as the hotel owner gets murdered, the poor bellyboy does everything to keep the murders away from the rest of the hotel guests, and the ever-present authorities.

Mario Warfare link
A web series about mario and a few characters from the ever-so-popular game put in the dirty, gritty environment of FPS's and shooters.

Was randomly searching kickstarter around and found this:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/62367895/mrghost-iphone-emf-detector?ref=discover_pop

Just wanted to post it here. :D

In short:

It is an EMF detector (Electromagnetic field) that can detect EM fields of various household appliances, and can be used to go ghost hunting if you want that. :)

Lore, Fan Media & Fiction / The adventures of captain Hyph
« on: December 11, 2012, 10:03:25 AM »
This is a story dedicated solely to the random madness in that recent thread in the discussions forums, the community and forum praise thread.

The captain looked through the large glass panes on his quarters. He quite liked the view of the planet. What a shame it was, he thought, that it had been lost to such a scourge. His train of thought was interrupted when his first lieutenant stepped into his quarters, unnoticed, unwelcome.
"Captain, we need you on the bridge."
"Who told you step into my quarters unannounced like that?"
"No one. But this is an emergency, and i had my ways next to your quarters"
"Fine. I'll be there soon". He glared at the first lieutenant like he was some alien from an distant planet. Infact, the two of them had never gotten along properly. The lieutenant was impulse, quick to act on what he believed was the right way for the situation. The captain, on the other hand, was patient, and always waited for the opportunity to appear, not for them to chase the opportunity.
The lieutenant went outside the quarters, and headed for the bridge.
The captain tidied up the quarters a bit, and then headed the same way

"Lieutenant, i hope you have a damn good reason for that kind of behavior" He said, sternly.
"I do indeed. See this scanner readouts, sir? Well, they're not debris. They appear to be organic remains. Most probably from the overrun camps down on the planets, but you can't really be sure."
The captain took a moment to stare at the readouts and tried to make them do any sense. He failed to. The sun was just rising above the planet below them, filling the bridge with ambient light. The captains badge shone, making the name of the captain visible. It read, in bold, "Commodore Hyph, 2nd assault brigade, ANPCG"
The lieutenants badge was also shining by now, and it also read, in bold "First-officer Sprogniator, 2nd assault brigade, ANCS Verticle, ANPCG".
"Sir, what should we do?" The lieutenant asked, a bit more scared now than before.
"What we can do. Brace for impact, and order the other ships to be careful."
"Aye sir." The lieutenant picked up the intercom, and started yelling orders to the rest of the crew.

Meanwhile, the ships where approaching the debris their radars had noticed. And not all of it was dead. Not all of it was human.

(to be continued shortly)

Discussions / Teleglitch.
« on: December 11, 2012, 05:01:22 AM »
Okay, so, with all the recent indie advertisements on this forums and whatnot, i decided to join the fray. :)

So, i found this little pixel game called Teleglitch , which is now on desura. It is an action survival-horror game, in which you investigate a proceduraly generated military research base on some planet 30 AU away from earth. An experiment of theirs failed, leading to robots, zombies and huge robotic monsters. You have a wide variety of weapons, which also can be disassembled, and the parts used to either upgrade or build entirely new weapons. I like it, and for 10 EUR/USD, it really is a nice game. :)

EDIT: Oh, and there is also a free demo to try out, if you'd like to. :D AND it is also an rougelike. Forgot to mention that. :)

Discussions / Explanation to what happened.
« on: December 01, 2012, 02:05:49 PM »
Alright. So, after the attack, i ran a full-scan search, and it turns out, somehow, and trojan had infiltrated my computer, and was invisible. This trojan had adverse effects on my usage, and led to the events that followed. This has been now cleared up, and i apologize sincerely to everyone that was affected by this.

It was not an attack by anyone on this forum, but we where led to believe it was, since xareh had suspicous behavior, and didn't provide much evidence for us. I agree i was stupid NOT to do a scan, but now the results have been proven, and actions taken.

Hope we can all get along from now on.

Discussions / Join the Pax Corvi! (Shores of Hazeron Empire)
« on: November 27, 2012, 09:20:02 AM »

Pax Corvi: Eternus Victoria

What is Pax Corvi?

Simply put, Pax Corvi is a new community, alliance and gathering place of like-minded individuals to create an environment and bond that's stronger than the sum of its parts. Everyone is entitled to govern their jurisdiction as they see fit, without interference from others unless it's requested/deemed necessary. If you need help of any kind, then our members will be more than happy to help you out and help you get acquainted with getting your bearings.

Where is it?

We are situated in a game called Shores of Hazeron, an empire building MMO of an immense scale, with a full-scale galaxy. As such, a single player cannot hope to govern an entire empire on their own, they must have people assisting each other. Or in the case of this one, everyone assisting each other.

Can I Join?

Absolutely! If you can play well with others, and are willing to learn a thing or two, you are more than welcome. There's no reason to turn away a good person, after all.

What are the Rules?

Generally, the rules are common sense things (like respecting your fellows, etc.), so I won't go over the very basic things, however there are a few things you should keep a note of:

1. Leave any diplomatic decisions to the council. This is a necessary restriction so that conflicts aren't started in error.
2. Keep your holdings well maintained. It's all well and good being able to build up a world's infrastructure, but it's useless without the ability to regularly visit and keep your citizens happy.
3. Please remain professional when the time demands. I understand that you play games for fun, and I respect that. However, there are those times where joviality takes a back seat. All I ask is that you can maintain a serious attitude whenever it's needed.
4. Inform a council member of any scan you believe to be new. As we expand, we are also looking for better resources. This hunt will go quicker if there are more people searching, this much is obvious. However, we can only utilise these extra scouts if they communicate back to the core. Scans will be collected and added to the database that is being built up.

What are my rights?

Every member of Pax Corvi is allowed their own system to rule over, as standard. What they do with that system is theirs to decide, so long as it benefits the empire as a whole. In addition to this, you are allowed a ship of the highest TL (Tech Level) we can manage, constructed from Port Dawn, our core shipyard-world. Furthermore, you will have full trading rights within the empire and all her allies, and as has been mentioned previously, any assistance required will be gladly provided.

What are our goals?

Our goal is simply to see a visible result of co-operation and mutual understanding come to fruition. On a personal level, I would like to be part of something that has grown from nothing to a power that rivals the great alliances that exist today, but not to come in direct confrontation with them so long as is possible. Saying that, I will say that we don't envision ourselves being kicked around. We may not be warmongers, but we aren't doormats either

Where do you stand diplomatically?

Generally, we would prefer to remain peaceful. War is expensive, after all. If, however, someone directly threatens us such that it's deemed necessary, or if someone harms our allies, we WILL take action.

– David Sheridan

On behalf of Pax Corvi, I thank you for taking the time to reading this message, and hope to see you walking the stars by our side someday. Eternus Victoria

Hehe, not many of you know this (probably none! ;)) but i am really, really getting scared over stuff i usually wouldn't get scared of. I jump to wrong conclusions, and mostly blame the paranormal almost immediately, unless i go and investigate what caused the sound further. I think this might be slightly related to me watching wayyy too many paranormal investigation groups, but i don't know for sure.

Any of you guys that can help out? And don't bring religion into this, though.
