Haven't been on in months (sprog, medoca and a couple others may remember me), nice to see all these new ships (that look awesome btw) :)

I haven't spoken on here in months...and months ;P

But I still keep checking up on the game progress and interesting mods. I have gotten used to the long cycle of development on this game and I like it, after following other games that release lots of updates but are bug ridden, broken or were not worth the effort of downloading. Unlike Starfarer Starsector which has massive updates filled with working new content   \o/

Be thankful for a perfectionist.

Seems to be one of the "over-engineered" Corvette Wings, like the Excalibur Wing in Valkyrian.
My term was 'overcompensating flyboy wings' :P

I really like the orange ships HELMUT, and think the rail gun idea for one of them would really work.

That anime series was so depressing I didn't want to finish watching it. It was only because someone else told me it was decent I watched it through to the last available episode. Even then it is a really grimm dark series.

The manga is a lot better and I would recommend reading it over watching it.

But yeah its a depressing as balls anime...though I hated the super long speeches.

First thing I have done in months, and only a work in progress (probably gonna redo the centre, the most forward armour section and change the antenna slightly), I have seen some really nice sprites in the past few months/weeks but as I am in lurk mode never commented on them :P I really like the rockjunktm ships (my term).

Looking forward to the New SPAZ, but still wary of the mid-late game area - for me it got too grindy then you suddenly were super OP..... Hopefully they remedy that and I really like the 'warshiplike' combat in 3D-ish.

(I do agree that the battles in SS are fast, but I think thats how they should be if you ever watch real combat/read combat logs it happens in minutes so around 15s seems kinda real to me)

I saw this a few days ago before there were any responses, and thought about it...got bored, then played Starsector which I think is good enough as it is. Then went back to here and saw you lot getting confused and the OP whining......I sigh....................................Jesus Christ. Couldn't you have made it clear in the OP what you intended, same goes for the title??? It in no way indicates that you will make a game.

(To respond to optimising, you do that after you make the 'draft' game otherwise it just gets complicated and messy however well planned you make it, so go away make a draft of what you want to make then come back and ask us for advice.)

I sound harsh, yes, that is because I am frankly bored of silly little posts and misunderstandings. BE CLEAR WHEN YOU POST.

(I am also very tired and slightly Ill so if this offends tough idc and my logic is mildly broken :P )

All in all......bleh I give up on trying to understand people

HELMUT I have devised a special drill to suck out all that artinessness. Prepare Your Head.

(Lovely Kitbashes, and paintjobs I hope these get added in as random boss fleets with a capture possibility Alex looking at you :P )

Why don't you use Google Drive as well?

I think you get 15GB free so It would be a good idea  and it has the syncing ability like Dropbox.

(I unfortunately already have Dropbox so can't help you out there)

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm actually having much more trouble colouring and lighting this than before, gonna read some guides and play around with some tools to improve.

I am not happy the way it looks. But I think I know what I did wrong adn I read a guide somewhere on how to fix it. I'll be back

I know why i recognized the ship, it looks like the alien/mutant (Gauna) ships in 'Sidonia no Kishi'

That means I like :P (So more plz)

@Sheeedow I like the new ship design, and the kinda 'flimsyness' i think it makes them have a more aesthetic ship design (the people who design them) and gives a nice overall feel to the ship instead of the standard bulky ship that moves slowly, so is differentish and gonna be pretty

The wings are meant to be sorta holographic blades that stick out of the sides. They can be folded up, turned on/off, rotated, etc. Obviously not in gameplay, but still.

Try using a different texture e.g.

Or make them look less 'physical' use more transparency and lighter colours.

EDIT: Also if you are wondering who I am, I was active modding about 3-5 months ago then stopped posting due to lack of intrest in modding and personal ***

Discussions / Drawing Tablet - What to get...
« on: January 16, 2014, 01:22:03 AM »
First Post in months....

I am going to buy a drawing tablet soonish (i have been drawing more due to 3d shizal and some texture work) and need a good idea of some of the options I can get

Looking for a decent one with 1024+ levels of sensitivity, decent size 10 inches +.

I am looking at a few options (not even considering Wacom, had one before and it *** me over - and other rl friends hate them due to the crap cables and the nibs wearing out quickly)

So any ideas for me? (I don't mind the price so much I just need a good Idea of options)

Especially looking to Shadow for advice :P

Jesus christ man.....

Make a page in modding then post the wall in it, also I used to use a Mac to do all my spriting (a old macbook) I used paintbrush for making my basic shapes, then used GIMP to do all the detail, as HELMUT said the beginning is a hard hill to climb, but it is not as hard as trying to work out photoshop :P really just look at some of the spriting tuturials on:
http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=3342.0

There are some helpful hints and tricks to working out how to make the app do the work for you, and using filters is useful as well as messing around with colour levels ect Either way start using a image manipulation software which is competent for this level of spriting.

(BTW I liked the wall, some interesting ideas)
