That's pretty much what I've been doing. I had Duzhak spawn with a 75% hazard world with good organics and farmland and settled it. I've been farming Yma for cash and rep as the pirates there are going nuts so the Perseans and Shadowyard like me quite a but. It's just apparently the Blackrock decided I've gotta die or something *shrug*.

I have a lot of heavy destroyers in my fleet along with my falcon flagship but honestly I would be hard pressed to beat what Blackrock sent against me even with a full fleet of capitals. That's just way too many fighters.
If it's and "Invasion" fleet, then you are at war with Blackrock. Very Very Bad idea if you are playing own faction until late game. Unlike pirates/pathers, proper faction send warfleets in your directions. If you think Blackrock fighter waves are bad, you haven't seen DME invasions. Enough fighters to blot out the sky, and good fighters too.

The obvious solution is don't be at war with a major faction until you can take them. Drop off high value prisoners or Gamma cores for some standing, do some missions for them. Or just go and take over a small pirate market and hand it over to them.

If it's an "Expedition" instead, just pay it off before it leaves, if you feel you can't take it.

Is damage against fighters/missiles counted in any way. I made a PD boat with AOE anti-missile, anti-fighter missiles etc, but it's rating is really low. I think it only scores when it kills ships with its light darts.

I noticed this too. Cabal fleets are extremely rare, even with the devmode radar you can see they are just not there.

In 0.8, I would have seen cruiser-grade fleets with those sweet Starlight Auroras, and even the occasional auto-generated bounty with value over 1 million+.

Noticed that Invasion fleets are a little too easily distracted. They will happily forget whatever they were doing a and chase a couple of pirate frigates. They try to get back to the mission, but as soon as the pirate frigate gets closer, they instnatly turn after it again. The fleet can spend months massing about instead of reaching their main objective. The only solution is to stay well away from the fleet, so it's abstracted, then it moves to the target properly.

Invasion fleets should just outright ignore anything with less than say, half of their FP, of the fleet and just move to their objective.

I think the AI does not undestand how to use the mobility system on the Sphinx. It uses it like ram drive, catapulting the poor thing right into the middle of the enemy pileup. Which is typically suicide for a stand-off cruiser with a missile have armament and very inefficient shield.

It's sad, since in player hands the ship is really nice and flexible sub-capital

That's not much different from vanilla open markets in my experience.

Dunno, vanilla markets usually don't have Paragons and Astrals in the open market and the battlestar is a 60 OP supercapital.

In my last game, I cannot seem to find the Vesperon recruiter at all. I saw one very early on, when I did not have enough independent standing. After this, nothing. I used console commands to teleport beween all the independent markets thinking maybe I was unlucky, but there appears to be no recruiter present on any of them.

Is there some way I can check in the save game file where he is, or just activate him by save game editing?

I noticed the open markets in the imerium have very wide definitions of what can be sold to complete strangers.

The first visit to Byzantium, in the open market (NOT the Bazaar) had a pristine battlestar for sale. On subsequent visits, there were often multipe cruisers there as well.

What's the next big thing for Nexerelin? Player-created patrol fleets? Space Monsters? More side quests?
The update immediately after this one (to be released in a few weeks) adds NPC colony expeditions and new start options, among others.

How will this interact with Vayra's NPC rival colonising factions? Will the two work together or with they be incompatible?

Can you please explain, how you do run the game like that? I am not that adept as I should be to run this game. I am just a person, who wants to drive the car, not a mechanician like you guys.... :(
Right click the icon and check if you have an option like in the screenshot.

If you have a laptop, you often have 2 graphics cards: one integrated (Intel HD or something similar), one proper (like Nvidia).

SWP has the miniblaster. An ideal weapon for people who like to fill thery single free slot with a weapon, but don't want the ship to have flux problems. It's flux efficient and only cost 1 OP. Just don't expect it to do much damage.

Yes.

Same issue. Tried the things on the list of suggestions. Crashes on saving now no longer occur every time, but still frequent. I never had anything like this in 0.8 or 0.9.0a versions.

Took a look at the hs_err log (thank you for attaching it!) and this also looks like a driver crash. Since it sounds like you've updated to the latest version of the drivers, I'd recommend trying an earlier driver version instead (maybe going back half a year or so?) - it seems pretty likely that the most recent driver version introduced a bug.
Thing is, I had an older version of the driver before. I upgraded to the latest version trying to resolve crashes.


EDIT: Tried running game with integrated graphics. Performance obviously went through the floor, but there were no crashes in a few hours.

Well, it's a "habitable world", so it should have oxygen otherwise how would "humans survive exposure unprotected" on the surface (unless Greg the survey officer "massaged" these figures a little).
