The hermit class was quite fun. I'd have either harpoon MRM's up the wazoo or give it a HVD and snipe for days.
Foxhound though, thats a whole 'nother barrel of fun.

With the given info, a hangar for Sunder will cost 10 OP, a wing of Daggers will cost 20 OP, refit times are slower, and bombers may not get a bonus for returning in one piece for ships with a converted hangar.  That Sunder will pay a heavy price for a wing of bombers.

Ouch.. that would hurt.

There probably should not be any worry about Medusa or Sunder being carriers.  They need all of their OP to do their primary jobs.  With max OP, they have just enough to get everything they need, although they may not be able to afford all of the luxuries.
But having an auto pulse laser cover hordes of bombers as the enemy cries salty tears is the meaning of life.

General Discussion / HE Point Defense (And other weapon ideas)

I've played starsector since 0.6 came out, and in my time I have continued to wonder why there isn't a HE point defense option. Perhaps it is due to the amount of damage it could do in a ship-to-ship knife fight. I'd think it would be like a flak cannon, but with a weaker splash or shorter range but the benefit of increased DPS. Or maybe it would be a slower firing LMG, trading accuracy and fire rate for increased range (450) and damage.

If anyone has an answer to this, or a suggestion for another weapon, please leave a comment.

I feel like the Unsung Class is a lot like the Macross Quarter (from Macross Frontier). The wide, prong like front with a smaller, narrower 'center'.
Diable Avionics might buy one just to make a giant aircraft carrier battleship that transforms into a giant mecha just to punch the reactor fluids out of all it's enemies.

I've developed two. The 'flyboy' is based off of several famous plot quotes. (Lets kick the tires) is Top Gun. :D (Can't hold 'em alone!) is the Viking pilot from Starcraft II.
The 'Cowfolk' is more like the guy in the Century Bomber from C&C Red Alert 3. (Just give us a target and we're on our way!)
Also, Great mod!! I laughed so hard when I saw a Seski with the Heavy's dialogue during a playthrough by Nemonaemo.

The Sthenos is quite OP in some situations. I killed an Onslaught using it, without backup. It might just be the Scalaron Blasters on it, though. I also had a Tornado MIRV in the large slot, but barely used it.
Side note: Conquests are a bit harder, since they can turn. My best "joust" left me with a third of my HP. A Paragon was strangely quick to die.

Sorry about that... I love the mod btw.... Shard Guns/Cannons and Shredder MG's FOR DAYZ.
Also, have you considered making a giant Robberfly. Not literally GIANT, but like a bigger bro. I'd laugh my posterior rump cavity off if I saw an Onslaught burn by a ludicrous amount of reapers. I love the speed your mod's ships usually have. Lightspeed was sooo last cycle. It's ludicrous speed now.
