Modding / Re: "The Silent Armada" - A mod backstory concept
« on: March 08, 2017, 10:37:13 PM »
The story is nice and it seems right out of the twilight zone XD I do wonder though what happens next. I mean this is the backstory of the new faction right? That means that either somehow these ships will start working again by their own, or some unknown creatures or maybe brainwashed humans? Maybe aiming to make them a side faction to Hegemony?

I always was a sucker for mysterious happenings and since in space imagination is the limit, I am already loving this XD

One thing though. You mention that they carried no data and just basic computer programs, but then it is also mentioned that the ships are build be a technology not known. One of kind of contradicts the other, but you do mention they seem to be built for human use, so I guess with my memories from Stargate, someone could indeed manage to do some readings XD

Woooohoooohoooooo! As I was looking around for Immortal Light fleets, I randomly saw a fleet that was marked red. It had only Approlight ships, not looking like a pirate. I checked the bounties but nothing was there either. Only way later I realized it was one of the bosses :D

I donno how long I spent trying to destroy all ships but the boss one, running away once, with an Onslaught not being fast enough. They will be remembered =( After it was just the boss left, I honestly was planning on doing a savescum to get it, but I was lucky and managed to get the boarding screen on my first try :D What a high maintenance ship this is!!! Had to add Logistical Conservation and Minimal Preparation to kick it down to 30, with max CR at 67. Probably will remove Minimal Preparation later on. Now.. time to overcharge it :D

Tis a beauty to even look at~

Question: Does attacking him/capturing the ship make ApproLight dislike me? I am guessing yes, cause I was on 100 relationship with them and suddenly that dipped to 75. Are bosses considered part of the faction?

Haha, that's a good point. I'm still confused by the fact that you can dock at stations with your transponder off and you can't repair ships because you require proper docking clearance... Yet you can still refit them? That doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me.

This would make more sense if the instant repair at stations, would actually cost the played an amount of spacebucks along with supplies. When refitting happens I just imagine the crew running left and right and really fast changing the weaponry. It takes too little time to attract attention, since to begin with you are in a way with the transponder off in an area that you are not really observed, right?

Repairs should be possible to be done for free, be it you landed legally or illegally, but it would require time to pass, down to half the time it would require you to repair while traveling. If you land legally though, there could be the instant repair choice, where you spend money to get it done in almost no time or just instantly. That way it would feel that instant repairs are done through the paid services you get on the planet, but free repairs are just done by the crew itself.

General Discussion / Re: The gates

Not sure how much it fits, but every time I see the gates I get the same feeling as I get from Dwarven ruins in The Elder Scrolls games. Whatever will be behind there, it will be mysterious and make little to no sense. Like traveling through the twilight zone~

Discussions / Re: Does anyone look into Ryzen?
« on: March 01, 2017, 02:13:34 PM »
I never in my life owned AMD. The only time I remember AMD actually creating something that could match Intel, was around 2005, where it was a big stir with the high quality CPU AMD released, which if I remember well it was called Althlon or FX (it has been a long time).

The only reason I even looked into AMD, is because when I visited the forums of overclock net, which I usually go for some opinions, in the Intel CPU section that I asked about 7600, I got 3 answers. I was suggested to look into 6700 or maybe7700, keeping in mind that they get hot, and all three said to at least first wait for Ryzen.

Good reputation is something that takes more than just 1 good CPU. Trust is probably something even harder to get. But I always do trust users and I do not mean the ones getting all hyped. Results that come from users are most of the time not biased and external sources can't affect them, which is why I like forums. If anything I know Ryzen is going to get criticized very strictly, cause as it seems a lot of Intel users that wanted to jump from 4 cores to 8 cores, have got them.

I have low expectations from Intel for sure, mostly because 6th to 7th get was supposed to be a 15% jump in performance, with the best current example 6700K->7700K having an 8% better performance when on stock clocks and almost 0% when OCed on air with a good cooler. 8th generation is supposed to be another 15% up from the 7th. Sadly it seems at least Kaby runs extra hot.

I never have been disappointed by Intel before, but a bad experience way in the past with NVidia, taught me it is better to not jump before looking.

I never saw that MesoTroniK, but I consider it common sense anyway, so I did not need to read it. Like when I had a crash with Pegasus Belt Council before a couple of days, I posted it in it's thread. I did not know it was Nexerelin until Kitsune told me. I guess though I am at fault for changing the subject title instead of reposting this, when he told me, on Nexerelin. Sorry.

Thank you so much for enjoying ApproLight! I feel god damn warm about it!
I'm very sorry about the update of ApproLight, it has been 0.5.1a for a long time in China but the translator has so many work to do that it has to be delayed. The new version has been more balanced and change a lot of detailed things, also more playability.

I wish I knew Chinese XD Although it is nice to know it's still being developed, even if out of reach. Patience is a virtue. I will be really happy when it comes, be it on 0.7.2a or 0.8a =) Thanks a lot for making this guys and for translating it for people like me :D

If I am understanding it right, the crash happened when a minit fleet was to be spawned for Glasnir, but then again I am just guessing. This is the error I got, along with some previous lines.

I just feel ApproLight fits me I guess. It really seems to try and pull me into their world, with just more than just veni, vidi, vici. Well, although imagination can create whatever scenarios it wants, I like it how the mind get's poked by ApproLight. Being able to gather pieces to construct a legendary ship. Having hierarchy where it is not enough to just befriend them to talk to Originem. A mysterious uncharted area where their enemies come from (which I tried to get close and regretted XD). Their own questline.

I definitely feel ApproLight feels like an odd, but very enjoyable to me, JRPG element pushed into the game.

Just a random comment of joy. ApproLight makes me feel I am playing a JRPG game. It is the first time I ever got so into a faction. As far as unbalanced factions go, it is wonderful. It really makes me happy to play with it in my list~
