Suggestions / Larger Windows Icon.

First thing first; I am so sorry if this should not be in suggestions, but I feel I am suggesting to add a larger icon, rather than talking about why it is not there.

Windows, because they are so awesome (lol) just do not care to use 128x icons, even if the icon size someone has is 128x. I do not know the complications behind packing in the exe file an Icon that is 256x, but I find it sad to see other game icons I have to be nice and large at 128x, but Starsector only a small 64x icon.

I did extract the icon and enlarged it to 256x, so I can have it in larger size, but why not add that size in by default, or if not possible then add an ico file along.

Amusingly enough Google did indeed help me find 0.45 version.. I googled Mediafire and Flu-X.7z and google had a cached version of 0.45. I guess it is not all that bad that google is filing everything up in it's archives~

Woot. Thanks to the help of the people now I only lack Flu-X v0.45. I did manage to get v0.2 thanks to Camael. The Nexerelin galaxy will definitely be glorious.. and deadly XD Thanks a lot :)

I initially posted on a couple threads, but seeing I wanted more than 2, I thought to not fill the threads with posts asking for older versions and just ask here. If I should just go ahead and ask in the respective threads, I will do so.

I am looking for some Nexerelin compatible mods;
The Flu-X v0.45
Neutrino Corp v1.81

I am not sure if these were compatible with Nexerelin on version 0.65.2a to be honest. If anyone has them, is it ok to post links here or message me the links? I looked up in their threads for posts that have the older version, since some mods do, but sadly I found nothing.

My first play ever of Starsector was modded with SS+ and Nexerelin on 0.65.2 and a handful of factions along with them. I have absolutely no idea if in Vanilla too the captured ships after battles were a lot, or it was maybe SS+ doing that.

Neither in my vanilla play ,or my modded play on 0.7.1 I got many ships to capture, which made me end up buying my capital ships and a couple more. In 0.65.2 I literally would be like "Oh another Onslaught. Meh!" and just shoot it dead.

I do not want to capture more ships to make money out of it, or to avoid paying to buy my ships. Making money feels as easy as trading a handful of thousands cargo  from really cheap price to really high price. But I find it more fun for me to capture random ships and even use some that I normally would not buy by myself, ending up testing ships I normally would not.

If there is a % chance, I would love to change it to what it was in 0.65.2 modded play I had for sure.

General Discussion / Which officers do you like and which you avoid?

I personally like the obvious steady, that are just add buffs on top of the AI and the cautious ones, which I hand the my battleships if the have at least Gunnery Implants 7. The aggressive ones which are the first to go are usually put on ships that are heavy or... I do not mind if they get destroyed XD

But the one kind I never tried are the timid ones. I am sure  am doing some things wrong, but for the timid ones I really do not know how to use them. The best use for them as I see the personality description is to assign them to Carriers, since I want to keep these alive to not lose all my fighters. But I honestly never hired a timid one.

Suggestions / Have the ability to mark ships as non combat ones.

Many times I enter the combat and click the all button and then click on all my cargo ships to remove them from combat. It would be nice if there would be an option for the ships to mark them as non combat ones, so the all button would not choose them automatically for combat. That could either mean that these ships would not be selectable for combat at all or affect only the all button, letting players choose the for combat, in case the would want to. Another way would be a cheap hullmod like minimal preparation, rending the ships non eligible for combat and lower CR and cost for upkeep.

Suggestions / Creation of Demo version?

I know demo version of games stopped existing years ago, but I still wish there was a way to play a demo of a game and then buy it. Considering steam has created this new way of first testing the game and if you do not like it you return it, makes me compelled to use steam, even if I dislike it. But I am suggesting this because the game I am comparing Starsector with, has something like a demo. Minecraft always offered the ability to play for free it's alpha version, letting people taste how the game is. After that they would watch some videos and be compelled to rush and buy it.

I have 0 knowledge of marketing online, but I know if it was not for Good Clean Gaming on youtube and in extension Space Game Junkie that I go to check all space related games, I would not know of this game. Youtubers are nice and always suggest for people to go and buy the games, but I am sure if it was mentioned that "There is also a demo version to see how it feels to play the game", people would be more compelled to visit the link and try it out a bit themselves, rather than just judging from what they see videos.

Of course I guess after this reaches the steam platform, this will not be needed.. but even if I do use steam for sometimes low prices.. I avoid it as much as I can.. sorry I do not like a watchdog around my games. I much prefer the nice serial number that I was given for this. :D It made me feel want to create a box only to stick the serial number in the back of it.. ahhh good old days..

General Discussion / Is there a way to trade anonymously?

I mean more trade, rather than smuggle. I am sure the reply will be no, but i want to make sure. I enter a system with transponder off, meaning no one knows I am there and what I am doing, or it should be like that. I go to the pirate station and trade 1000 supplies and boom, the factions that have a planet in that system hate me like there is no tomorrow. Shouldn't having the transponder off mean that no one knows who I am?

The game crashes when I try to mothball one of my fighters and it seem to be happening with a random one. I am not sure if the ship being a fighter matters or not. Finally on my 4th try it did not crash and I managed to mothball the ships I wanted.

Modding / Why Blackrock Drive Yards hullmods appear in my game?

For anyone that gets confused by the title, I have not installed the said faction. This is also why I did not ask in the BRDY thread and rather came here.  My mods are;

The Knights Templar

I just found it weird I guess. My first thought was "Omg, they are so awesome they are going to invade my galaxy even without me adding them!" It is definitely not a problem, just mere curiosity why it is happening.

General Discussion / Commission and temporary truces are headaches.

I have been pushed to get a commission with Hegemony and I have to say; I am regretting it. One of my biggest headaches are temporary truces that give me a boost with the said factions +90 to relationship, to just turn them neutral rather than hostile and while I am minding my own business trading I see I am start losing reputation cause I am in good terms with the faction they had the truce with.

Please make it so when the faction goes back at war with them for reputation to plummet again, for at least the people with commissions. Not that it is hard to find some fleets and shoot them down, but since one is under a commission, shouldn't that affect the reputation as much positive as negative?

I am sorry if this is not the place I should ask, but I did not see where else I could. I just got the game so I am totally unfamilliar with how it works and I just know that Minecraft that is a Java game too, lags if modded too much.

The area around my main "player" planet became from normal to really laggy, since I deded to take over 2 new starsystems. I took one at almost the beginning of the game and that did not bother it.

I have to say what I did lately is to fill up my storage with a lot of captured ships, sell large amounts of different weapons to the player faction main planet and fill in the Omnifactory with any kind of weapon I had, so I would only go to refit my ships there.

The only sluggy moments I had up to capturing the last pirate base, was when in battles it was a chaos with ships and explosions and stuff. It is not bad that I can;t live with it, but I am wondering if I should not sell too many weapons in omnifactory or maybe not store too many ships or sell too many weapons in my main planet. Well it is either that or the fact that around the main planet it is covered in small and big fleet orbiting it, making flying around my planet really slow (about 13-17FPS). Not sure if the sleets outside the planet affect the planetary interface.
