Hey Alex, I was wondering if you could add a combat feature that would be more in depth regarding ships deploying order in relative to their strength.

In really large battles I noticed that there are 2 ways to deploy your ships; the smaller/faster ones first or the second option, deploy the largest ships first followed by the smaller ships last. As of right now the game only does the first option but after a lot of testing I have found that doing the later tends to bring the larger ships closer to the front line faster and it drastically changes how the battle unfolds.

That said the reason why I would like to ask you to add a feature is that I think it would be nice if you had the option pre-battle to select if you want to deploy large dp ships first or small dp firsts. And I think where it could be a massive game changer is if the AI could also do that randomly through a simple value given the the npc fleet or it could be a faction doctrine to begin with. That said fleets that tend to deploy a lot of carriers of phase ships benefit massively from deploying smaller ships first while ships containing mostly battleships benefit the most from deploying large battleships first.

It would be amazing if you added this emergent gameplay since it would make late game much more unpredictable in large battles vs always dealing with the same behavior!

That said, another aspect I would really like for you to adjust is how ships deploy. Atm ships deploy with a max row of 5 which often leads to ships blowing up or clumping together taking them forever to actually reach the battle. If you could add a config value we could edit in the games config file so we could adjust the amount of rows that would be really nice!

Another feature that I think should be added is the fact AI fleets should recover ships they destroy as well with the possibility of rearming them. Atm only the player can do that and it would be nice to see certain fleets grow over time and others mothballing ships to go sell them at markets (mostly scavengers)

I've got around 300 mods installed so ill do my best to find the culprid... If anyone has any idea what causes this crash it would be really nice to find a fix!

Some of the mods are bootlegs not posted on the forums but I suspect it is Vayra causing this crash. Someone tossed me a "patched" jar which fixed a similar previous issue

Got a headset that has disconnecting issues and sadly everytime it disconnects and the game is running all sounds stop working for starsector specifically. Theres only one other game that has a similar issue and that is Teardown but even that one has a simple fix of basically going into the main menu and sounds come back. The real issue is that when you run a bunch of mods it can take the game over 10 minutes to load so having to restart the game because sounds stop working really sucks... please fix

This crash happens when you open the colony management screen with the D key and look at the planet view. To be clear I'm not exactly sure but everyone I asked pointed towards a vanilla code crash when doing some experimenting and encountering said issue.Basically this could be a game engine limitation?

Suggestions / Make combat moddable and not hardcoded.

Hi Alex, had a convo with mesotronik and we were talking about larger asteroids in combat situations or even a new system where if you attack a fleet from the right you should spawn on the left side of the map according to what direction you are attacking the enemy and they would deploy on the side relative to your fleet when the encounter was made...

 Stuff like this would be really fun to implement as mods and right now everything is hard coded which is really sad since it means we cannot make more amazing mods for the game :V

Suggestions / Chunk generation system so we can have insanely large maps

Hey alex, I know this would require to rewrite a bunch of stuff but I think it would be cool to have a chunk system in-game so sectors could be generated outside the current playable area and this could allow for HUGE maps without breaking the game. Chunks could be then set on idle and only system where the player has been to get saved like in factorio. I wish this was added since it would allow for us to make series of outposts to finally discover what really happened to the gate network as an end game and hell, all of the "core" worlds could be procedurally generated except for their position in the milky way. Places like the solar system or other close know stars could contain things that are always there in any playthrough a bit like the core worlds in the sector but the rest could be generated like the systems we can discover that have gates in them and decivilised worlds.  Would be cool to find pockets that were also not effected by the collapse since maybe it was just a big science experiment.

Anyhows, I think this really would make the game alot more enjoyable because once the whole sector is explored there is very little to do and with blueprints being "rare" in a vanilla playthrough and litterally impossible to aquire all of them with mods I think it could simply be changed where blueprints for guns and ships are unique and each gun, wing, ship has their own blueprint. This would make any discovery fun and would resemble the borderlands feel of never running out of unique guns (except it isnt infinite)

Having a system like this would also allow for larger and more complex faction mods as I am sure the core worlds must have been a huge mish mash of different faction styles. Not only would it allow for much more narrative to be implemented, it would also make nexerelin playthroughs alot longer and hell, conversion mods could possibly be a thing of the past since they would have plenty of room away from the sector for their narrative to hold together but still be in the same as the rest of the galaxy.

Everything could be customizable like how many sectors around the one the player is in would remain active to how big the scale of the galaxy plane would be. A fog of war system could also work since hell, the galaxy is so big it would probably be impossible to reach the edge of it.

this idea has been in the back of my head but when "A nice green frog" on discord started messing with sector size I just saw the potential

It just randomly crashed after I added underworld, dynasector, green knight security, combat chatter.

memory allocation was left at 2g and 4g so it is most likely the cause but in case it isn't theres the log :P
also it didn't throw me an error it just closed the game in case you needed the info. Ill increase the memory allocation to see if it fixes the random lag spikes in hyperspace and that random crash.

basicly ships NEVER follow any instructions.. they do even the opposite sometimes and it makes it impossible to win some very important fights... I tell ships to move back, they keep throwing themselves at the enemy. I make them strike ships so it balances out... and now they wanna stay away. Even if I tell them to push they wont do *** and it makes it really tedious. Ive noticed this has been an issue since 0.8. I don't know what you changed but it seems like ships lost half their AI and just become either absolutely pointless in combat  (I have another unsung in my fleet and it won't support me or stick close it will just stay all the way back... not even shooting half the time and when he does its at a tiny ship while it should be focusing on much larger ships)

Edit: is it possible this is because i haven't found officers yet? I mean do officerless ships behave less than ones with an officer?
