General Discussion / Re: Best places to sell survey data?
« on: April 23, 2017, 08:59:14 AM »
There should be a backup save from the previous time in the save folder - ends with .bak, I think? You can strip the ending and try to load it. Weird that your first one went bad.

Strip the ending?

You also want to sell durvey data at region capitals or high stability planets. They provide a good boost to your selling price.

So planets with really good stability even with the trade tax? As I don't really feel like helping piracy as they swarm enough as it is.

Well.... bugger.

My save-file is now incompatible for some reason.

There goes my survey data  :-\ That's frustrating.

I'm not sure where to sell these things as Id rather avoid the 30% tax if at all possible.

Is there some kind of science officer who wants them or something?

General Discussion / Re: how to use fleet command effectively?
« on: November 14, 2016, 02:25:06 PM »
The fleet command is one of two things I am somewhat competent at in this game, with the other being event trading.

Fleet commands are mostly for general things that you want done rather then like in a RTS where you want your guys to do something exact.
I always order my fleet to capture the point on the map, as their bonuses and extra command points are very very helpful.

I always order escorts for my most valuable ships, and while this does put weaker frigates in danger I mostly consider them to be expendable, lashers I believe they are called can be considered to be expendable when compared to a cruiser.

Ordering attacks on prime enemy ships can be a good way of convincing the AI to try and focus fire when it is able. Rally points if I remember correctly are a good way of getting some ships to congregate for some purpose that escapes me for the moment. (I think for stashing away carriers?)

But the comments in this thread are correct that in the case of highly manoeuvrable craft, escort duty can be troubleshoot when the captain needs to disengage and vent flux.

Now If only I could actually pilot worth a damn, then fleet commands would be even better as my fleet could stick together while I gut the enemy support ships.

Drop Stabilized Shields and strap 10 vents on the hull. If you have Integrated Targeting Unit available, use it instead of Dedicated Targeting Core.

What is different about the Dedicated Targeting Core?

Huh.....it's possible I might be, I'm not particularity great at reading the fine print.

So I just stuck on a bunch of the shield mods.

This guy seems to be very balanced overall, and rarely has problems on the battlefield unless outnumbered.

It's my main combat ship so far, as when supported can fight just about anything.

I have kitted out my missile cruiser for such:

Seems to do rather well at dealing with most missiles and fighters, and can even spam enough of the anti-fighter missiles to overwhelm most larget targets as well with the medium missiles.

The MLRS I felt was kinda weak until she absolutely murdered a enemy eagle cruiser, macross missile massacre style.

But if a conquest is a Battlecruiser rather then a Battleship, then surely it isn't supposed to go toe to toe.

Are the independents in some kind of confederation or something?

I actually know very little about the sindrian diktat, a lot of people seem to compare them to nazis IF this is truly the case then count me out of space nazi town.

That said, the scariest part of the Nazis is that they were trying to achieve what most countries wanted at the same time in history (especially the US). They just took it way way way way too far with the industrialised slaughter.

Peace time Nazis are a thing to behold, but holy *** war time Nazis made the word Nazi what it is today.

I love all the low tech stuff.

But I do love the Diktats mix of high tech elite fleets with low tech regulars.

Id love to get the diktator feeling in there some more, fly there versions Swastika and SS logo a little more on their ships. Along with fashionable and little skull wearing officers!

Check of their worlds have demand for goods, and sell them the needed goods while preferably buying them on the cheap and even more preferably from the same faction.

They'll love the trade, and you will make a rather nice buck.

Win win baby.

The reasonable fleet worked!

3 Hounds and a Shepherd supported my Wolf in battle wielding 2 medium needlers a Mauler cannon and the drones along with my default bounty hunting wolf.

And I just killed my first bounty fleet with no outside support, and with no losses or major damage taken!

Now I have a lasher with assault guns and auto-cannons! Yeah!

« on: November 25, 2015, 03:28:42 PM »
The defective ships make good cannon fodder for both sides, even if the maintenance is the same.

I have a bunch of the hounds (The one with the 1 medium kinetic and 1 small kinetic) and with a combo of needlers and maulers cannons they have been able to bring down larger prey for me.

To start with, I don't need elite ships just masses of conscripts to overwhelm the enemy.
