I have my apogee set up with a MIRV and Tachyon lance, and its pretty nice, I also have missile racks for extra destruction, it works out pretty well.

Currently I have two graviton beams providing kinetic damage, but there is a tachyon lance for sale so I might try that out.

edit, while trying out the beam weapons, it came to light that the autopulse was the only weapon(besides missiles) providing hard flux damage, which means I will probably stick with it.

Back when the apogee was good, I loved to use  the autopulse with extended ammo, and I could tear through ships at long range. Now that I can't do that I've tried out the high intensity laser since it still has long range, and seems to do a decent job, but it just isn't as fun to use. Which one do you think is better?

And my suggestion for transponder re-activation: this really needs to go into the 'jump into system' dialog; you don't need to change the current options, just add a third one for "jump into system and turn transponder on" - and color it red; that way even if the player is just clicking through those, simply seeing that red line will serve as an immediate reminder.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.


I also think that Talons are a bit OP, probably better than some more expensive alternatives. Their swarming behavior makes it impossible for frigates to defend against them.
Watching my tempests getting swarmed by them was horrifying.

Why the flares for the apogee? It has 360 degree shields so its not like a missile will sneak up its tailpipe, wouldn't a different system make more sense? Doesn't have to be something like sensor drones(though I'd love you if it was). Just something that effects it's engines or shields or something.

Its shield is Frontal, so there is a point to the flares if you're caught with your shields down. Plus even if it were Omni you don't always want to eat a torpedo to your shields. And overall the Apogee was too good (still a bit too good I'd argue), it needed a nerf.

Speaking of drones, the Prometheus still uses PD drones for its system.

Tried out the tempest today, those active flares are actually pretty decent, so that's nice

Is it still as rare as a virgin hooker? Cause I need one so I can USS Enterprise the **** out of the sector.Also, can I only find them at TriTach military stations?
I've seen them but they aren't as good as before
I know, and it hurts, but I can make some decent cash exploring and killing Redacted with one, and no matter what alex does, the Apogee will always be my baby.
The REDACTED are gonna own you if it is your largest ship
way to crush hopes and dreams, if anything, I might just give it back the range boost it once had, but I want one Regardless.

No one uses bigger ships here, huh? I've been getting hails of rockets and torpedos thrown at me a lot. It's usually when I lose concentration and my Onslaught gets too much flux.

I pilot an Apogee and I get Torps and missiles thrown at me all the time.

Yes. Also, it has the "Surveying Equipment" hullmod.

It has no drones anymore, it has double active flare launchers now.


Is It still viable as a flagship?

Sure, but I guess it is best for an exploration focused play stile now. As it should be.

But it's not as good of a combat flagship anymore, damn, that was my baby...
It was OP as all hell, especially with the out of combat boosts and the range boosting drones
