Well, I think those officers are made for your own LRM ships that can shoot for 7000+ range for you not to be afraid of loosing the ship itself. But probably you realy need to make it fixed a bit for non aiming missiles.

I doubt it because the Timid personality is supposed to fill that role, Cautious is supposed to stay at maximum weapons range and engage from afar. I'm using it with a brawler with maulers and a wolf with beam weapons , both have 1000 range plus range bonuses from modules and character abilities. Watching them fight a (D)Enforcer with low range PD weapons and annihilator missiles or reaper torpedoes which should be an easy job for them is suffering. They'll just stay out of range and follow it until they run out of CR...

On another note, cautious officers seem to stay out of missile range of enemy ships too which can be quite annoying when they have 1000 range weapons and refuse to use them because the enemy has dumbfire missiles and torpedoes which the AI understands as "weapons with longer range than mine so i have to stay away" disregarding the fact that they have a VERY low hit chance past 400 meters. Maybe this behaviour should be tweaked based on the hullsize of the ship the AI controls. Have yet to test aggressive AI though.

I had no issues with friendly fire.. but I guess it would be a nice option to be able to change the colour of them..

It's "pretty soon", actually. Which is not as good, that phrase has been used twice before, on September 10, 2013, 3 days before the 0.6a Release and on September 28, 2013, 4 days before the 0.6.1a Release.
The term "very soon" was also used twice, once on June 8, 2011 2 days before the 0.34a release and again on March 07, 2012, on the same day as the 0.51a release.
So while pretty soon indicates a release in approximately 3,5 days, a very soon would point towards a release in about only one day. Of course the low sample size makes both numbers subject to an enormous statistical uncertainty.

....I might be overthinking this.

Re-designed the larger freighter because it looked too boring and didn't really fit the style i was going for, also i have to apologize to star_sektor for using parts of his design without asking. Hope you're not too mad at me :P



Also improved more on my old design:


EDIT: Tested the sprites in-game , they are smaller than they look which is something i have to change. Any tips on how to make them bigger without loss in quality or do I have to redraw them completely?

Made some changes. Added camo too make it look less boring :P. The medium mount is supposed to be lower than the back and front end, so when the turret is added it only barely peeks over the front (it can't shoot backwards). In terms of balance I was considering it to be a step up from the Cerberus, kind of a frigate-destroyer hybrid

Here's my first sprite, tried to make it fit the starsector theme so i used parts of other ships and combined them into this. It's supposed to be a armored freighter.

So many awesome new things! Looking forward to the update. Also just a little suggestion, I think the expanded magazines hull mod should be changed to buff ballistic weapons in some way since it has no use at the moment.
