Then you have not replace your JRE folder in Starsector with the 64bit-version of Java. An intruction how-to is a few sites back.

Have you tried it without making changes to settings.json?

20 minutes is ... a lot. I just tested it locally by forcing it to 60 fps while loading, and it still only takes about 30 seconds. Hm. This is really strange.

No, not yet. Hm, i think, 20 minutes better than 3hours, and its succes. :)



After to set them back to default, i have the felling, it take a bit longer to load, or I'm just mad/ to tired... but after 30sec, i have see the first blue line..

And the logfile, must see, how i can add them..



Ok, after that, i think, it takes maybe 18-22minutes to load, but these 30sec loadingtime? awesome :D
Maybe, my PC-Hardware/drive-Configuration is bad? Now, i think, i can tried it with mods.


And here, i have the link to download it file. It's the New_2 file. Cannot say, if the download starts automatically.


Oh, and now, i have enabled mods, many ^^, the loading take again veery long... I'm now loading again 1hour, and the progress bar isn't fill to 1/20..

E^1: Starting Ss from different harddrives/ devices, make no different.

I think, i can say, i have first succes. :D
Oh, what i have did:
  • 1) Remove all my mods to my external harddrive
  • 2) Uninstalling Starsector via the uninstaller
  • 3) Clean/ delete the rest i had
  • 4) search for additional files, that was not removed
  • 5) After I'm sure, there nothing more, i have it installing ( I:\Starsector)
  • 6) Then, i edited first the vmparamfile ( -Xms1024m -Xmx4096m )
  • 7) Also, edited then settings.json (I:\Starsector\starsector-core\data\config)(vsync = false; FPS = 100 )
  • 8) Make sure, no mods are installed; [...] no other files; line; something are changed
  • 9) Start the vanilla game, after to 2minutes, reached the first letter; reached the half progessbar after 5minutes; reached the letter "O", while i write this
  • 10) Have a good feeling ;)

By finishing this post, the game finally loads, i think, 20 minutes? That is acceptable for me.

Sorry, really, but do not know, how to understanding it. Did you mean, how much FPS i had on loadingscreen? From the beginnen until to the end, 0.1FPS. And at the end, i think, at letter "R", its jumping to ~60.000 FPS.

And to the 250FPS, i think, i decrease them, because, so i think, it eats a lot of ressources.

Having all the factions loaded at once causes the list of factions to go offscreen again.

Oh, and what happens to the omnifactory if the player starts unaligned?


So far as i know (or it is the memory i have...), the factory will spawn, when you joined a faction, but not sure about it.

E^1: How many faction are this? :D Seems pretty cool (?) :D

Again a new installation? Will try it, but tomorrow, today i'll a little play, when it does finally loading, to calm down.

I will then install it new tomorrow, copy all my mods on my external, cut'em off, delete all, what i have from starsector, then, re-installing it, run them without mods, then the log is updated?

and this with Afterburner, i don't run it, when i will start Starsector. I don't know a solutions, where i can run both them at the same time...

What i have, is, that i have from the launcher to the man menu a waiting time of 3 hours ( Vanilla ); 3 Hours (With Exerilin+Compatible mods); [...] .
I have also tried a earlier version, V5, because in this version, i can play the star wars ship from davidsshipaddon. Loading time to the Man Menu : Less than 2 minutes.
  • Intel(r) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
  • Installed 8,00GB RAM
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

On the beginning, i think really, it was normal, but now, i know, it is definitly not normal, to wait 3hours, until the loading screen finished with loading..
I have also edited the vmparam file, but i think, it doesn't matter here...

Edited the settings.json, too:
Disabled vsync
Set the FPS to 250

All drivers up-to-date.

Running Starsector from other harddrive, like, USB-Stick; External Harddrive; Other Harddrive have no effect, it still load the 3 hours..
I have only the one grafikcard, no onboard installed.
Tried with 3D settings in the NVidea controll panel on on/off, nothings changes.

Other games like this, like Minecraft, work correct.
And replaced the jre folder with the newer, in my case, with the 64bit, have it too.
My antivirus, Free Avast, does not block or get something else "in the way to block", tried it with AVAST activated/ deactivated.


For anything, that can help, be usefull to reduce the load-time-on-loadingscreen, I#m very thankfully

None of the errors you are having are related to Starsector+.  That loading screen problem is definitely a vanilla bug and should go in Bug Reports.

I was in this section, found 2 threads, and in one posted, no answers yet...
Oh, and it takes definitly a longer loadingtime.
I think, i will make a new thread..

Have you tried uninstalling Java with their uninstaller and reinstalling?

Yes, i think so. Don't now. To be on the safe site, i have now uninstalled it, download the newest Java 64bit version; ( Maybe it is, I'm not up-to-date? ) and installing it.


E^1: Have it done. I think, it is still the same, see no changes... It's now loading, and with MSI afterburner i see, that i have only 0.1FPS in the loadingscreen.. maybe this is it?

And i have edit the vmparam -Xms1024m -Xmx4096m
And in the jettison i have vsync disabled, and the FPS increased up to 250.
Because it was needed for exerilin.

E^2: I#m now 4 1/2H on the loadingscreen; @Alex: That's unaccetable..

E^3: After 5 1/2H Loading, gained instant error... Now, i think, i stop playing starsector until it is fixed

Actually, kind of a general question, would people prefer if I hid the higher options for game setup (systems, planets etc.)? Maybe they could be re-enabled with a settings toggle?

Oh yeah, more options. :D

Oh, and what i see when I playing on
  • 24 Systems
  • 3 Planets
  • 5 Stations
  • 10 Belts
  • And all faction's you know of! ( Could/ can be maybe 12-15 factions? don't know actually, too many mods. :D)
  • Small systems
, is, that the system and planets are (extrem) far apart... and when i played on lower settings
  • 2 Systems
  • 3 Planets
  • 5 Stations
  • 0 Belts
  • Small
  • 1 additional faction.

Too far travel... An options, that they are closer, would be god.
