Mods / Re: [0.65.1a] Starsector+ Vanilla Enhancement Mod 2.0
« on: November 08, 2014, 02:13:10 PM »
Ah so it was a bug, not a feature ;)
Maybe in the future you could call in a refueling fleet for a fee or something. That way the feeling of being stranded in some sh*thole system can stay without forcing you to wait around.

Edit: Also, can I ask exactly what starsector+ features will be missing from non intigrated factions? I really want to try out Ice.

It is just as he said, you NEED tankers now. Although I think ships SHOULD be able to reach neighboring systems. Also, the systems need to have MORE fuel in them so you can't get stranded there
I agree, I quite like the survival-ish feel of having to plan your stuff before you go somewhere. Unfortunaly the unavailability of fuel sometimes prevents you from playing the game to some extent.

I have litterally been playing this mod from the time of its release till now. And it's great!
I have one question though, what's the idea behind the fuel consumption? Because even though it may cost less, often they simply don't sell enough to get you to a nearby starsystem, let alone across the galaxy. So far all it has done is force me to farm pirates for fuel before hopping to the next system. Which is a pitty, since the three or four new systems need to be explored!

Holy ***! You sir, are a god!
I wasn't expecting this to update for weeks!

Edit: Some nice depth added to the character creation! Looking forward to discovering all this mod has to offer. But the added ships and expanded skill tree alone are enough to make this mod great, especially with the changes the new vanilla build introduced.

General Discussion / Re: Stability

I haven't noticed any fps drops either, and that's coming from the person with what is, most likely, the worst pc out of anyone playing this game ;)

And yeah the overheating isn't new, I've done everything I can to combat the overheating for years. Unfortunaly my laptop is just so old that most likely, the heat makes some components swell slightly. Which makes them disconnect for a little bit, which then crashes/turns off my computer ;)
The overheating isn't really the problem, the fact that this thing is 10 years old is :p

Yes, Alex fixed several memory leaks and other disruptions with this new release.

Thanks, good to know. The previous build gave me a really bad time, crashed my computer a lot more then anything else I could do (including running games like mass effect 3). Didn't keep me from trying though :p

You see, my computer crashes wafter about half an hour of playing any game.

That sounds like overheating, or inadequate/aging PSU.

Though you don't specify if it's a laptop out desktop, so it's hard to be more precise.

Thanks, you're actually probably right on both accounts ;) But it's a super old laptop so not much to do about it. I'm saving up for a decent desktop. But wasn't looking for advice (though it's always appreciated), just wondering if it had something to do with the new build or if my computer randomly started working slightly less crapily ^^

Hey, I was just wondering if there were some stability upgrades to 0.65a.
You see, my computer crashes wafter about half an hour of playing any game. And it slows down to a crawl within 5 minutes whenever I play 0.62. But the 0.65 build I can play for over an hour without even a single fps drop.

General Discussion / Re: Conquest battlecruiser

I believe indie markets are the only one who can sell onslaughts. Also, indie markets tend to be small and unstable, so finding one conquest may take a loooooonnnnggggg time.

By onslought, do you mean conquest?

I thought the conquest was the sindrian diktat battlecruiser, but all they offer me is more onsloughts. Every playthrough I've only found onsloughts and paragons (or whatever the huge tri-tachyon mothership is called). I was starting to think the conquest was a mod ship I just got so used to seeing I forgot it wasn't actually in the game.

This is what happens when I spend an hour in other tabs before finishing my reply, I guess. ;)

I was going to make some obvious joke about lazyness, but unfortunaly i was right when i thought it might be a stupid question ;)

Thanks lazy, but already figured out through trial and error that the underscore replaces the space. And after that through more trial and error found out i should have been looking at those files, instead of trialing and erroring ^^

Probably a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to set faction relationships for factions with a space in the name. I tried luddicchurch, LuddicChurch and "Luddic Church" but none seem to work. Or maybe I just made a spelling error somewhere?

EDIT: Oh ***, didnt try _
Mah bad

Why do you have to rub those awesome sprites in our faces? Now I have to go and find an 0.62 installer to play some more ironclads ^^

General Discussion / Re: Harpoons' odd tracking system
« on: October 27, 2014, 05:24:02 AM »
Harpoons are awesome, but when fired at close range they tend to circle the enemy when they dodge it. If you want a missile to fire from close range, go with the annihilator.
