Firstly piracy not piratery regarding the neutral scavengers.

Secondly I agree that you probably don't want to add any faction mods to your first game but there are some mods that may be desirable, primarily auto save and Steiner Foundation, possibly common radar and combat chatter and possibly audio and graphics updates.

I've had this happen sometimes as well with just me and my escort frigate burning in so it isn't necessarily allied ships, I assumed it was a big asteroid and didn't pay much attention to it. I cant really add anything bit will try to remember to look for the cause next time it happens.

Will disabling GraphicsLib ("enableShaders":false) disable the new Templar effects or do you need to disable both separately if your computer can't handle the aforementioned demanding custom shader effects?

Can I us this mod to teach myself the salvage gantry hullmod? I want to 'learn' it now I've reached salvaging skill 3 but it doesn't seem to be on the list for the AddHullmod command.

Possibly a bug; when your factions makes peace with another the ex-hostile factions markets may still refuse to let you dock due to nearby hostile actions.

A persistent bug I have been running in to but unable to find a cause for, sometimes I would be warned that "turning your transponder on now will reveal your hostile acts to the independents" despite never attacking any independents. I just encountered something similar with Nexerelin; I engaged a Persian league fleet and destroyed all but a few frigates, immediately after my faction declared peace with the Persian league and I immediately received at the same warning.

I believe that this happens when a specific fleet that is hostile to you, for example a pirate smuggler or Persian league that you have attacked, changes at their faction relationship towards you to friendly, for example of becoming a independent smuggler or your factions declaring peace, the individual fleet remains hostile and if they identify you again will update your faction relationships to hostile.

The Murti? beam (the medium one) doesn't sweep, instead it flickers between the two maximum points. I asume its supposed to mimic the Deva beam?

I think I've found a bug: Kobold wings don't register as out of ordinance the way bombers, but do only when the carrier gives an engage order.

When ordered to regroup they behave fine, launching rockets until they run out then their icon goes dark, like a bomber, and then land on the carrier to re-arm however; when the carrier orders fighters to engage they continue to escort the carrier and launch rockets (not moving towards the target, intentional?) but when they run out, their icon remains illuminated and they continue to escort the carrier until the order is switched to regroup whereupon their icon blacks out and they land to re-arm.

Installing OpenAL didn't help (the installer finished so fast i'm inclined to think it was already installed) however, mostly on whim, I ran Starsector as administrator and it loaded fine. I assume the cause is Windows Defender that my laptop decided I wanted installed I don't have a clue when (there are times when I want to punch whoever designed windows 10).

So I can work around it by running Starsector as an administrator but is there a correct way to fix this e.g. some way to tell Windows Defender to trust Starsector?

The game ran fine last week and I don't know what has changed since then. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I had re-downloaded some mods after reinstalling but they were all deactivated.

There's a mod called usable [REDACTED], it lets the player salvage REDACTED ships of both types.

From what I remember the low tech ones have no shield and horrible weapon layout. The high tech ones had sub-par flux stats for their class and therefore trouble using all their weapons. They have quite a few synergy slots so may be useful as missile boats and the destroyer carrier has the recall device ship system.

Bug report:

When I try to start a dynamic start with the SCY nation the game crashes while creating the new game (I believe while simulating the sector/economy immediately after generating). I can start a normal game with no problems as well as a dynamic start with the independents and Interstellar Imperium.

Ohhh! That’s probably it. Looks like I have to un-learn some muscle memory (although it may have saved my afflictor from point blank ship detonations a few times so I suppose it’s not all bad).
