I hate the new name.  But that's totally beside the point... Alex can call the game whatever the hell he wants.  I'd still like the game if it was called "Go Eat a Bowl of Dicks Hairrorist."  Still a fun game that reminds me of Escape Velocity with way better mechanics.

But doesn't the abrupt change make you curious?  I'd love to hear the story.

So... we're all dying to know the story behind the name change, Alex.  And how you settled on Star Sector?  Personally, it sounds kind of an awkward and as a phrase holds no meaning.  Not that it's a bad name.  90% of game titles are even more empty random conglomerations of words marketing decides sound awesome together.  And obviously, the game isn't affected.  Still the same awesome package.  It's more a question of sating the curiosity of your rabid fans.

Err, but its actually broken.  You shouldn't be able to phase into a 360 shield.  It's...a 360 degree energy barrier.

As a player, I universally prefer the Lotus variants to their vanilla counterparts.  The combination of strike speed, flux efficiency, and extra OP establish them as the clear winners, especially when you consider how extra OP leads to better shield/weapon flux efficiency.

Balance suggestion that might emphasize their strike first strike hard philosophy:
Increase flux capacity by 25-50% across the board.
Cut flux dissipation by 50-75% at least.  Probably 75%, since base cap is much better point for point than base dissipation.
Cut armor in half.
Cut hull strength by 25%.

I'm playing around with changes in these value ranges and the result are ships that really HAVE to rely on that speed to get in, shoot their load, and buzz off to dissipate their flux.  Psychologically it feels like playing a pirate captain, and requires a great deal more from the pilot.  Try it out at least!  Those value ranges are completely arbitrary.  But I think a shift in that direction would go a long way toward making this mod one of the best balanced and most fun mods out there!

Hurrah!

Easy detail to overlook when rolling out new versions :)

Errr... so there is no .json file in the current download.  How do you activate this mod?

Hah, no it was kind of comical having a fleet larger than the sun.

I was just thinking--depending on how you have planet inventories coded, a quick fix that should (in theory) be easy to code would be to force convoys to dump their entire delivery every time, and if it would overflow the system inventory limits, just delete the oldest items in stock.  If you don't have a variable for item delivery date, it would also work to delete items at random, starting with ships that aren't at full health and items that are most common.  If rarity isn't a variable, then a hardcoded preference for 'tac lasers' and the like would work.

But yeah.  "In theory" a one fix hour translates from the ancient language of the code monkies to "almost definitely at least six hours, likely a week and possibly all the time that is left in the universe."

So... how does one download this?
Am I really silly and missing the link after reading it three times?

Yeah, my bandaid for your bandaid involved giving myself about 30 million credits or so and cleaning out the inventory for all the stations.

Ha, thanks for replying Alex.  What I meant was that in a game with a very elegant and intuitive design, that minor flaw stuck out like a sore thumb :)

Newest version of both Starfarer and Uomoz.

Confirmed that same thing happens if I don't grant XP, and also persists if I disable devmode.

Game crashes for me consistently after 30s or so after starting a new game.  Come to think of it, could this be caused by granting myself experience too quickly?  My last pilot savegame encountered a gamestopping bug (on the SF code side, not the mod's) and he was level ~45?  I don't want to start all over so I was giving myself XP.

In such an elegantly implemented game that is an atrocious and annoying design decision.

"Well thanks for stopping by guys, but we're not interested in buying any of your shiny new and highly desirable tri-tach ships at the moment even though there's an extremely wealthy gentleman that's promised to spend his entire life savings and stops by every two months for four years.  We're STOCK FULL of all these incredible and valued badly damaged wrecks.  It's raining savings!  Hey, can I interest you in forty platoons of these amazing Talon fighters?  What's that?  No, they don't fly.  They'd make a great fixer-upper project for that do-it-yourself interstellar warship engineer in all of you.  No?  Fine, suit yourself.  These babies practically sell themselves.  Yeah, I know, they've been on my lot for four years.  I still don't want any new ships.  I've got a good feeling about this month!"
