Mods / Re: Project Valkyrie V1.5 [0.65.2a - Vanilla Friendly] Outdated.
« on: November 17, 2016, 04:34:18 AM »
Now, now. No more angry comments, lets just leave it be. The mod author has stated clearly he does not want the mod to be touched or modified in anyway. Let the hassle die down please.
Tis true. And I stated it clearly that we shouldn't care because it's against best interests of 99% of the player base.

you have dug up and vandalised a grave I buried...
the mod will hopefully go back to my care, where I will put them to rest permanently...
back in 0.34-0.51 where ... i'd like to remember them ...
This is rather peculiar case of "the need of the many vs the ego of the few".

By letting your mod be known to the general public you've crossed the line where that mod might have started being known, loved, used to by that said public. Saying at some later point to that public "hey, I burned out, so you won't have this thing anymore no matter if it grown onto you" is an atrocity against human culture, human creativity, and basically against way human brain works. It is my strict belief that once the mod gone public the will of the players to play the mod should absolutely overcome the will of the author to "bury it". With that said, and considering how I myself love Valkyrie and want to keep it on my plate, I'm surely hope DrakonST will ignore that rant and finish his great job benefiting the whole community of players, instead of catering to the ego of a single man whose goal, however noble at past time, at this point is aimed purely to harm the community, the game, and eventually the joy of many people.

P.S. DrakonST, if you'll be able to resurrect The Nomads as well I will be ever so happy! ;)

Suggestions / Re: Fighting piracy with convenience: steam workshop

As long as we, players who are not going to touch this Steam horse dungheap with a stick, are able to get and install our mods manually, sure, go ahead, why not.

Haven't played yet, and most probably never will: I have just read 17 pages of discussion on this game, and the common verdict was that this casual hack job can't even hold a candle to MoO2.

General Discussion / Re: Returning Player questions/criticism
« on: January 07, 2016, 08:27:40 AM »
Normal trade isn't profitable by design, to avoid boring grinding.
It's funny how I keep reading this sentence as if some kind of mantra. But actually it makes no sense if one think about it: if normal trade is actually boring, then average player would avoid it on it's own, without additional kicks and punches in the teeth from the game, right, because why would he do a boring thing in the first place? So, what you really avoiding is one of this: it is either not boring for at least some of the players, so not allowing them to engage the activity that is fun for them is a bad game design, or it's indeed boring, but player needs to suffer this boredom to fuel his more funny activities in the game, which he will be unable to fund without trade, which is, incidentally, bad game design as well.

Furthermore, why would you put the whole trade mechanics in the game and then make it useless, is not it kind of stupid and deceitful towards new players?

Suggestions / Re: Sprite critique. Erase weapons mounts!
« on: January 02, 2016, 03:03:36 PM »
I personally think weapon slots as perfectly fitting as they are and should not be touched, however weapon slot covers could be used for (C) ship versions. With that being said, I loved greebles too, so I guess I'll be in minority on this topic as well :)

I forgot to add PBC to the supported list when it updated. It's on now, thanks for pointing it out!
Great, thanks a lot!

Hey Histidine, Pegasus Belt Council claims it's compatible with Nexelerin, while your list under FAQ section of the OP doesn't have it in the list of supported. Please clarify, am I right reading it as "compatible but not supported" as in it will have its market and spawn fleets, but won't participate in politic dynamics and won't try to capture new markets?

Holy cow, is it even remotely possible to start in current Nexelerin? I have tried 5 times, never getting supplies cost below 280. So, basically, all I could do is to get to the nearest neutral market, buy myself a shuttle, and be left with about 3000 in cash, which is equal to 10 supplies! What should I do then? The best I managed so far is to kill pirate fleet of 2 frigates, which yielded me 20 money and 1 supply as a loot and 180 money as a bounty reward! Hell, this is less than 2 supplies total for killing two frigging frigates! If I sound a bit annoyed, it's only because I just wasted a whole evening trying to get my foothold in latest 0.7.1 set of mods, and it's best I got before being hammered between pirates coming from thin air, flying faster than me and ganking me with a several fleets at once and economy draining every last cent off me because fighting is plainly unprofitable.

By this point (or may be earlier) you might want to say that this is because I suck. Well I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I fared nicely & easily starting Nexelerin in 0.65.2, so this is not (the only) case. Please do something about enemy flying faster than me, pursuing across half the map, and dropping loot not worthy 50% of supplies I wasted in the process.

Is Shadowyards compatible with 0.7.1a, or only 0.7a so far?

THI mercenary fleets now escort other NPC fleets if it contains civilian ships and the faction is of neutral or better standing with them
That is so cool, both for immersion and gameplay!

Tartiflette, thanks a lot for updating this mod!

After seeing this... Now I want more transforming ships!

I want Macross-style stuff everywhere!!!
One of the things I always loved about Diable was how their bigger ships remind me of Zentraedi design. And now we have transforming ship as well, woot! Coincidence? :)

Currently it probably won't work with Nexerelin at all.

You can wait for the next Nexerelin release, apply the relevant changes locally (1 2), or just download the latest repository copy.
I removed original post because I realised I'm addressing it to the wrong person, but I'm thankful for your timely intervention :) I'll see if I'll be able to modify Nexelerin myself I checked repository and it seems that master has ApproLight support. Cool, can't wait to see these beauties in action!

All Rights Reserved is default and does not expire during your lifetime.  The author being absent is absolutely not grounds to use their stuff!  It is never acceptable to take someone's work without permission.
Oh come on, so if a person just vanished and don't give a crap anymore, the rest just should ignore the stuff that could be to put to good use and let it rot? Bleh, some people.

Nikolai said, at the bottom of the op: "I don't believe in legalese.  I believe integrity should be self-evident.  That said, if you want to modify stuff, ask before publishing." So if you want to upload, you need to contact him about it.
Well if we're into technicality, 19_30s should just ask author, as instructed in the OP, and unless the author won't respond within reasonable timespan (month top) he should assume that all the ritual gestures are done and he could use the stuff.
