Suggestions / Search for weapons, equipment and hulls
« on: June 25, 2019, 01:12:23 PM »
I have a simple suggestion to allow player searching markets for specific items (weapons, LPC, hullmods, etc.) and actual hulls. Maybe similar to how it's done in SR2: you enter search terminal and just type your query along with filters - in return you get a list of results for a small fee.

Will it break balance? Well it'll reduce "shopping-roaming" by a huge margin.
It is imba? Should not be.
Is it realistic/immersive? 100%

I know that hull searching is already implemented in ConsoleCommands via FindShip but it would be nice to have it as official in-game feature.

Hi,

I play a game with Nexelerin and bunch of factions, big galaxy (or is it called standard?). Lotsa factions but only a few select have more than 2 markets. My problem is that right now my compressed save file is already 61mb and save/load process takes uncomfortable amount of time even on SSD.

Is it expected? Is there any way to trim down the save file size or make saving/loading faster?

I have a huge fleet, which consists of several strong flagships and loads of mini-carriers (in my case these are neutrino smallest carriers, which support 2 fighters and require only 6 supplies to unleash). By loads I mean that I have like 12-15 of them.

My problem is that when fighting with no orders issues and no officers assigned they usually do one of the following:
  • They just avoid fighting and keep fighters close so basically they are useless
  • They rush in as if they were super-fighters and die either of friendly fire or simply by the hands of the enemy. They do this even if they don't have ANY weapons installed. Not even PD.

Both of these behaviours seem totally stupid for carriers. What I would expect them to do (being weaponless motherships) is:
To stay as far from enemies as possible but within fighters range and constantly engage enemies with fighters. Probably some mix of harass behaviour + engage command for fighters

Now predicting some possible suggestions here are some extra thoughts:
  • I can't really assign officers with proper behaviours to every carrier because of officers limit
  • Issuing manual "fighter strike" commands only works in small battles. If the battle has like 20-30 enemies you won't simply have enough command points to make carriers useful
  • Making carriers "escort" flagships do not help because carries then go too close to enemies (sometimes even stick in front of flagships) and die fast
  • "Full assault" still doesn't make them engage enemies with fighters if they have decided to be passive
  • Manually controlling each carrier - I hope no one actually suggest this

So the question is - is there any way either in vanilla or mods to make them behave like I expect them?

Modding / ExperienceToLevel progression
« on: June 30, 2017, 08:10:38 PM »
Hi,

I have created a simple mod for myself to increase level cap to 100 (I want to keep it in mod instead of changing settings) but the problem I'm facing is that "required experience" progression is crazy after level 40. You can kill a fleet of 20 capitals to gain no more than 1/4 level when you are around 45.

Is there any way to change the progression of required experience? Ideally I would like it to stay kinda like vanilla until lvl 40 but then after 40 make it much less steep.

Thx in advance for any kind of help.

I'm looking to sell a big bunch of fixed-price items (survey data) and for obvious reasons I want to sell them at the market with stability 10 (because of x2 price).

My problem is that I can't figure a way of checking a stability level of the market until I actually land there.

So my question is - is there any other way of checking the stability level of the market except for landing on it?

Hi. I have this nasty bug that won't let me finish any combat. Starsector crashes with Null Pointer Exception when combat ends and before I am given any post-combat options.

Although log says that it fails at "data.scripts.plugins.ExerelinFleetEncounterContext.applyExtendedCRLossIfNeeded(ExerelinFleetEncounterContext.java:1496)" I think it might be something generic because of: "WARN  com.fs.starfarer.campaign.fleet.RepairTracker  - getRepairMult() warning: fleetData: null, commander: null". Seems like fleetData is not pointing to my fleet (if it should).

General Discussion / Logistics upkeep per ship
« on: September 28, 2013, 02:11:14 AM »
Heya! Sorry for a noob question but howdya check the logistics upkeep of any given ship before you buy it?

I've tried searching for it but couldn't find it plus ship info window in 6a tells me nothing I could use to guess this value.

Thx in advance for answers.
