I have to ask Alex, WHAT exactly did beams do that made him hate them so much! I find that it is BS that they don't get the boosts that all the other weapons do get! *holds up a picket sign saying 'Beams are weapons too!!'*

I have to say that I too am sorry. I know that my first few posts might have come off as a bit, or more than a bit, whinny and bitchy but I REALLY DO love this game! It is the first space game (that wasn't an RTS or 4X) that I have seen in a long time that I have actually had fun playing! I love how everything is so easy to mod and it makes it feel like a better game! Hell, you turned a pirate into a payer with this awesome game of yours and I hope it becomes an even better game!!

High energy focus would be a bit overpowered in my opinion. x)
I've replaced it with fast missile racks. Any other system would be either useless or too powerful on this ship.
Isn't being overpowered is what being a dreadnaught is all about?  ;D
Why not sensor drones? Would that be too OP?

Good question actually. I never really thought about it as I added it. And it's too large and slow to effectively use it.
Whenever I fly that thing I focus on hitting stuff with the big laser, never thinking about using its special system.

I'll go think about an other system to add instead, or perhaps just remove it.
Yeah, that system seemed worthless on the Pride so I modded it out and put in a high energy focus!  ;D

This is the most effective, or rather least painful, way to board ships now, which is a departure from how boarding worked previously.  Marines use so much logistics that you do not want to carry more than a dozen or two.  You still want a few marines because most boardable ships have crew in the single digits.  Capturing ships with the hard dock option is not very high.  I do not want to think about my chances trying the assault team launch option.
Actually crew are better for boarding, supply use wise as marines use 10 times the supplies for only 7 times the effectiveness of crew

I wish I could order weapons or ships, may have to wait several weeks in game for it to arrive and may even cost a premium. That's an aside to the point of the Fleet Coherence concept and implementation, it probably isn't going to make an enormous amount of difference to the gameplay experience - but it is an option available to help balance the game.
There is a mod out there called Omnifactory and basically does this. All you do is you drop off a weapon or ship you want more of and in a few days or few months, depending on the size of the ship or weapon, it will make another one of those items! im honestly suprised you guys have had ANY success ive been playing 9 - 10 hours and havnt had a boarding go well. it blows up or leaves with my ppl on it
Is this your first playthrough with 0.6? If so then you might want to think on starting a new game. My first game never let me board the ships as they all went boom in my face but now though they have stopped doing that

The only way I play starsector is in "scavenger" mode, only using ships I capture and weapons I loot. The new boarding system makes me sad.  Played for 5 hours straight, had 3 opportunities to board. Not one ship captured. To be honest, it makes me want to "put it back on the shelf".
You can increase the "base" chance of getting the chance to board in the "settings.json" file located here: "...\Starsector\starsector-core\data\config"

I forgot to mention that the thing you need to change is the ' "baseShipRepairChance":5, '

You don't want to face it in battle, it has 360 degree shield with endless upkeep, main guns have range longer than max sensor range, as well as lots and lots of long range railguns. I've killed so many fleets with multiple capital ships without taking any damage, even without shield.

I EAT Vatican Mk IVs for breakfast and modded the royal fleet to have THREE of them in it! And they STILL didn't give me a challenge! So yeah, BRING THIS BABY ON!!!

Hi there,

First off, very nice work on this mod, i LOVE the sprite and the design i tested as far. I'm a fan of homeworld series and particulary Homeworld 2 modded with complex, so much hours spent on multi against great oppenements. Keep up the good work it's definilty one of my favorite mod with ironclad  ;D

The thing is i keep an eye on the topic and when i saw that kbcblade had some issue i had to see if i had the same, well it occur that yes the badge had disappear from angel moon station and quite all higaraan weapon as well. One thing really odd too, i had stack of 0 crew all over the place.

Hope that will help you, i can give you a screenshot or/and a save backup if needed.
Excuse my english that's not my main langage, fell free to correct me, i'll learn better that way  ;)
The 0 crew stack is a bug and will be fixed with the next release.
Oh and I ENVY you so much as I wanted to get that complex mod going but never could as my computer sucks....

People who don't play an eight-minute tutorial shouldn't complain about being chewed up and spit out.
Other than that: yeah, I agree completely.
I'd generalize the death spiral problem to: the game doesn't warn you ahead of time about all the supplies you're going to be using.
One idea I had was to alleviate the problem was to add 200 supplies to the Abandoned Storage Facility as an "emergency stash" that newbies could raid if they somehow found themselves in a plunge. Aside from the problem of pointing players to it, however, I suspected that the kind of newbie who'd need something like that would just end up hauling it to the Hegemony station and selling all of it, buying a cruiser, and ending up in exactly the rut it was supposed to prevent.
The thing is though is that there is NO tutorial about this CR stuff! That was the first thing I checked when I got the new update.
And I agree with the "emergency stash" problem. Maybe have them at 20 or 50 instead of 200? Or maybe have the stations repair you for free or amuch reduced price as long as you are under a certain level? I don't know

Well, I've pretty much beaten everyone. The main problem now is there is no one left to fight. I tried installing mods to make more systems and other stuff but they didn't work. I guess you have to start a new game for that. I gotta say, I don't care for any of the capital ships. They don't have enough forward firing weapons for my taste and most of the beam weapons just seem to tickle the enemy. Not to mention flux is a serious problem with those ships, but then again, there probably designed for higher level characters. I'm only about 27.

With the modded supply usage, I have a sick amount of ships in my fleet. I'm doing about warp level 6, which is enough to catch most of the big fleets. Nothing is attacking me at this point. I have a large amount of carriers. Anyway, where do you go from here? Just keep leveling? I mean, what's the point after this?
Well for one, many of the mods are broken and not balanced for 0.6 so most of them won't work. And yes, you do have to start a new game to use them. As for what to do after you beat everyone? Well sadly there isn't much to really DO right now but you could try self imposed challenges.

And yes, caps in this version have lost much of their appeal sadly...
