Mods / Re: [0.7.1a] Scy V0.98 RE-FIX! (09/12/2015)

This is very weird. So I do get the crash error when I fight the Khalkotauroi right when it tries to fire its weapon I'm guessing. The weird part is, I can fight the same cruiser fine in the simulator.

So I'm as confused as you are. Although I don't really know coding.

I'm not familiar with file hosting but I'll do some mod compatibility testing this evening.

I suspect it has to do with that specific ship in the log (probably SCY_khalkotauroiMainGunAnimation, also in FabianClasen's error log) since I seem to get the error when facing that ship directly. 2 crashes were in front of the guy while 1 time was not (but it was probably somewhere else on the map).

Getting the same thing also. Multiple mods are enabled and happens when fighting a bounty fleet with mostly Scy ships.
Going to try to reinstall SCY and twiglib like you said. Will erase post if it solves.

Reporting this error. I have a bunch of mods enabled (Every compatible once except P3), so I can't confidently say this is due to Starsector+, but since it talks about SSP bounties I thought it had something to do with SS+ IBB.
In fact, everything was running fine until I finished off what seemed to be the last IBB boss fight (with the mod Paragon). After I defeated the guy, I always get this error and crash after approximately the same amount of time regardless of action.

btw, IBB was great fun. Thanks for the experience.

Mods / Re: [0.7.1a] Neutrino Corp. (v. 1.82)
« on: December 12, 2015, 06:28:58 AM »
When I play Neutrino with Starsector+, the warheads of the advanced photon torpedoes seem to disappear (the lasers do not appear).
My internet is bad and it is possible that some of the files are corrupted, but I downloaded Neutrino, Shaderlib, Lazylib twice. Starsector+ is too big so I have yet to been able to do that.
Versions are:
Starsector+ 3.0.0
Lazylib 2.1
Neutrino 1.82
Shaderlib 1.1.2
Starsector 0.7.1a-RC5

Can anyone confirm this?

« on: December 12, 2015, 06:23:34 AM »
When I play Nexerelin with Mayorate, the Nexerelin self invade function seems to disappear (I have an image but not sure how to post it here). Under the chances stats, it says 'IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0' twice, and choice '1. Proceed' disappears.
I currently live in China and have *** internet but I did download Lazylib, Shaderlib, Mayorate and Nexerelin twice. Not sure if they are corrupted. Also using JAVA 8 64bit.
Edit:
Versions are:
Nexerelin 0.7d beta
Lazylib 2.1
Mayorate 0.9.0
Shaderlib 1.1.2
Starsector 0.7.1a-RC5

Can anyone else comfirm this?

That's weird; that file is there--has been in since the previous dev version actually.  Just checked the zip as well and it's present and plays back successfully, so maybe it got corrupted while extracting somehow.

Oh... Maybe its because my internet (in China) is weird. I didn't know a zip file could become partially missing.
Well, if it works, then its good to me!

Thank you Alex!
That would really help.

Meanwhile I tried tweaking the antialiasing for both windows graphics and nvidia settings, but it doesn't seem to work (only about 4fps increase to 14fps). I've found other similar threads but no solution so far.
Being it an driver issue I guess I'll just have to endure when I'm not on my desktop...

I understand that would be the case for a normal user, but for people like Antino or me having these full screen problems, it's better to have a little cutoff than to shrink the whole screen by a significant amount.
If you could fix the whole issue that would be the best case scenario, but this issue did not get resolved up to this point (I'm still looking).

So there is no way to put borders back onto full screen from my end? If so, can you revert this change in the next patch since people will still always have a choice through using settings.json?

Okay, so I still have this problem where I get huge fps drops when in fullscreen=borderless window (I know these are not the same but they have the same end result).

Now, the real problem I have is that after 0.65.2a, I can't get bordered full resolution windows, which I'm guessing is because you made undecorated=borderless window the default for full resolutions in the 0.65.2a patch notes. I am not being able to change this via settings.json and need help doing so.

p.s. This effect does seem to be due to graphics drivers: I updated my graphics driver and it started doing more than it did before (whiting out the whole game screen).

It sounds like you have both integrated graphics and the GTX 850M running simultaneously. That could be problematic and could explain why fullscreen puts your laptop in a situation where these two GPUs might get in each other's way. If you don't depend on the integrated graphics chip, you could try disabling that in the BIOS and running the game with only the Geforce active.

Hmm.... Ok so I got a chance to try this but I'm not sure how I can disable the integrated graphics from my bios. Can't find any similar menus.

I did disable the driver for the integrated graphics from device manager though, but it has no effect. I'm not sure if I should uninstall it but I don't really want to take that risk...

Well... if anybody has more tips please post it here.

Edit: Apparently, my laptop doesn't support disabling intel graphics (this is the 'new' optimus), and disabling the intel graphics driver in device manager makes my nvidia card unusable as well. Talk about stupidity... HP and other similar companies suck... big time

Hmm, that is interesting indeed. One thing is that Starsector is using OpenGL, while other games you've run could be using D3D, and so might not run into the same issues.

Some googling around yields this:
http://www.java-gaming.org/index.php?topic=31029.0

Might be worth a try (the "disable DPI scaling" bit).

Also, re: aero vs non-aero themes: I'd suggest trying each to see if it makes a difference. When you right-click on your desktop and click "Personalize", you should see 3 categories of themes - "My Themes", "Aero Themes", and "Basic and High-Contrast Themes". I'd try running the game with an Aero and a Basic theme selected, just to see if that makes a difference. Aero themes in particular require hardware acceleration, so it's not impossible that something about that would interfere with the game.

Also #2: in your nvidia control panel settings, make sure that "threaded optimization" is disabled. That setting can cause problems.

I'd also try setting the power management mode to maximum performance, and set vsync to "use application setting".

Arghh... Well unfortunately none of those methods work. Changed Windows dpi settings to 100% (none); Don't have an "aero" theme choice but I did try each one; changing the nvidia settings you suggested also had no effect.

I also remembered I could run Master of Orion 2 and tyrian through doxbox and it worked normally. Do these games use OpenGL?
Well I can at least still play in windowed for the time being...

Bug Reports & Support / Re: Need help with full screen fps issues!
« on: December 17, 2014, 06:21:30 PM »
Okay, I think this might be helpful.

The problem I have only happens with the nvidia graphics card; when I use the integrated graphics card, the game just suffers an overall performance hit but there is no difference between windowed and fullscreen. However, this problem only happens with starsector and I can play other games at fullscreen with the nvidia card just fine. These games are all 3d games.
So I'm guessing nvidia settings has something to do with this but have no idea which one that would be. I don't think it's vsync though since I tried changing that in the nvidia control panel like you suggested (tried both starsector.exe and java.exe in starsector/jre/bin).

I also used older drivers, reinstalled the new driver, uninstalled MSI Afterburner (since I don't need it anymomre) but all of these have no effect.
