I can't speak for the energy/ballistics thing, but certainly the defense mode itself is useful on ships with the op and flux to make good use of it like the lime tart  ;)

And haven't i seen other similar systems used decently by the ai? Neutrino's Maul comes to mind but there are others I'm sure, one of the II ships? Also some sylphon. None have the combination of everything seej does but its close enough.

It's not a carrier, it's a battlecruiser. That's why it's cheaper than a full capital.

So uh. The Lambent. Yeah it eats less fuel/ly, but how is that worth double the supply use for 3/4 of the fuel capacity? Rn its never a worthy tradeoff over a phaeton.

Le Edit: The front-right dynamic thrusters on the Clade and Lobatus never seem to make a flame, seems bugged.

Also, is it me or is the Lobatus not very good? It doesn't have the flux to run 2 CEPCs and win a flux war - which it has to since it can't move - and with anything shorter ranged it just gets poked to death. For 11 OP I'd rather bring another Clade or Morningstar.

If you want to git gud with Blackrock learn to fly the shrimp.

The Gonodactylus is one older ships in the fleet not only in lore but reality, and will learn you how to brdy by punishing you when you do it wrong in ways something like a scorpion or knight won't.

FYI Gonodactylus is the name of a Genus of Mantis Shrimp of the Smasher type, just like a real one to do well you need to learn how to smash.

What I mean is, its based on your normal speed, so if you have 0-flux boost you move quite a bit, but an Equilibrium with flux up just sort of ... hovers there blurred for a couple of seconds.

Re: phaeton, ok, so can you edit the market a little so salvage gantry ships and tankers and cruise liners show up? Occasionally I'll see one in the black market but its not enough.

Enjoying myself a lot, bar a few things I'm having issues with:

  • Tarima: As far as I can tell this is a 1 deployement more expensive HVD/Mauler hammerhead that is worse in basically every way. I don't understand it. Halp.
  • Sylvetra: In order to make ammo you have to eat fire that will kill you, unless you fight things so weak there's no reason to use a cruiser against them. What's the trick?
  • Replekia: Haven't found a setup with Sylphon weapons where the AI will actually move in close enough to use its big guns, its just hovers at the edge of missile range forever. I might need to try an aggressive or reckless officer on it, but I shouldn't have to.
  • Nullspace Skip system: I still think this is weak due to it getting slowed down if you have flux. Jaunt is great.
  • Valestri: Great ship, but burn 7 is needlessly punishing resource-wise. Oxes are expensive to run. Its not that strong, especially if I drop shunt for soother for the burn speed.

Also I really need a Phaeton-equivalent. Because the Phaeton isnt purple, which is plainly criminal. Or maybe some generic exploration support ship with cargo, fuel, crew space and a salvage gantry. I'm using the Badger from Vayra but ITS NOT PURPLE >:(

Scaredy-cats work well on pure carriers and long range bombardment ships, though.

Blackdong dankyards doesn't reeeally have applicable ships though in a pinch they'll do on the big carrier with much a missiles if you load her with lrms.

I always fly the kark myself though, and keep a never, asura, shrimp or desdi i can switch into for smaller fights.

DA ships are not really designed to operate without a fighter screen or at least allies, and with their builtin and being balanced around that they're also weak in short battles.

In a group they're a steamroller though.

Also, you might just not click with the faction playstile, and that's just something that happens.

I love playing DA, but I suck at Scy, for example. Scy is only ever someone for me to fight against in my games, because I suck so bad at them it's just not fun.

Finally, tartiflette's factions are usually carefully balanced to be juust slightly weaker than vanilla so that it's a challenge unless you carefully play to their strengths. Vanilla factions are much more whatever goes.

Oh and W.R.T. feedback. I love flying against them, but hate flying them.

Inefficient low-tech shields, but with flux-hungry high-tech loadouts, and really tight op - they feel weak.

Might just be that I don't mesh with how they're supposed to be flown, but with the shields at 1.0 damage/flux across the board I don't want to get hit on it, so I want range, and that means a whole lot of flux I can't afford, I've never really found a loadout I was happy with.

The side turret arcs on the bliss aren't symmetrical, which would explain why it always favoured one side under AI use. That's not a trick to make the AI use it right? Because they are symmetrical on the Harmony.

I know you haven't been working on this faction for neeeearly as long as your others, but just for feedback's sake, I really want a cheap PD i can use to fill slots. I'm using a generic faction one for now but its OP2->0 and that feels like cheating.

Also and more importantly, its not purple, which is frankly an affront. So pretty please, with an Onslaught on top, a cheap OP3 version of the Choir?

Ok, I didn't go super duper far in - stopped at cruisers, so keep that in mind - I was impressed with the science cruiser, good player ship, and in general I liked all of them, mostly had issues with weapons. Its not that the ORA weapons are bad, they're pretty strong, but they're very niche, and there's a dearth of non-beam low flux high range energy weapons outside of mod factions.

I mean I was mostly fighting [REDACTED] and pirates/ludd/cabal, the odd Diable expedition, and its really hard to nail down enermies so they'll die.

In the end I had to use a mix of all kinds of mod things to get the required low-flux, 750/1000 range 'i poke you with hard flux' weapons so that things would stay still long enough to die, ORA isnt super slow but not exactly mobile either.

They could also do with a courier for flavor for chasing things down in pursuit, I was using BRDY robberflies just because it takes so long to cap pursuit points with ORA frigates.
