Okay, thanks for the help.
I might stick to being a lore/ideas kid for now... :P

Generally, I just move my mouse over the whole ship, as if I'm "scrubbing" it for weapon mounts. That might work for you. :D
Also,I kinda agree with you. I think that having the mounts highlighted and bolder would be easier to see and use, rather than waving the mouse all over the screen for a few minutes...
And welcome to the forums, mate. :D
(On an unrelated note, "scrubbing" doesn't like like a word to me...)

Hey all,
I'm not sure if this belongs in modding or not, but Discussions seemed like a good place for it.
Is there a really simple, step-by-step, foolproof tutorial for teaching a complete noob (i.e, me) how to code? (whatever format the mods are coded in, preferably)
If so, where can I find such a resource.
Much help is appreciated. :D

what's the exact problem?
I had a similar issue with not being able to connect to the internet. It was fixed by simply changing system time.

For the management thing, it could be a simple slider for time spent on certain activities (recreation, training, sleeping, etc.) and it could be an option at the start for people to turn it off.
For the fun aspect of it, I think it'd be fun just to see how long it takes a crew to mutiny when they get no sleep.

Ah, okay. I thought it was a simple moddable feature. Guess I should probably learn how hard it is to code things in reality...

I've got a few of my own.
(Starting a story about a lovely man named John Nicholson)

How are the systems manned? (As in, are the weapons computer controlled or are gyroscopic seats used to aim the guns? Does the pilot use pedals?)

How rare is it for an individual to leave his position as a crew member for someone else and start a fleet of his own? (or how rare is it for someone to gift an extraordinary officer with his own ship?)

I'll probably have a few later...
Anyway, help is appreciated. :D

I was referring to things like changing arrangement, sliding things around the screen, etc. (Completely useless, but it could help me when I try to think of a strategy.)
On a completely unrelated note, how about plotting flight paths for ships? (Time to make decoys  8))

Okay, I've done a search of morale on the forums and I've seen a lot of posts about it.
I think it sounds like a great idea. It would make the game "more realistic" in the sense that you have to juggle supplies, battles and the conditions of your fleet.
i.e. Visiting a bar (add-on to a station?), winning a battle or doing an action (such as throwing a party/taking the day off) would raise morale;
while losing a battle, running low on supplies or neglecting the crew would lower morale.
If morale gets high enough for a long period of time, you get a bonus. (money? improved battler performance?)
Whereas if you have low morale for a prolonged period of time, you get complications. (increased supplies per day? poor battle performance? {worst case scenario, mutiny on a ship?})
This could also introduce a mechanism for controlling your troops. There could be a menu pop-up to determine how much time your crew spends on activities (when not in battle) per day. (Increased R&R=happy, decreased R&R=sad; Increased sleep=better reaction times {autofire target leading increased}, decreased sleep = vice versa, etc., etc,)
Please forgive me if this has been posted before or I'm re-awakening an argument as old as the Collapse.

im having this issue where i move a new ship into a better posisition on the fleet store option and if my command marked ship is touched the command transfers to the first flyable ship.

If you're in the store menu, that is normal, because you wouldn't pilot your flagship into a docking bay and wait there for someone to but you and your ship.

I would like real life to be moddable. :D
Nah, seriously, I would like to see a mod for changing the GUI and HUD in the battles. (Kind of like a game menu customisation feature)

Suggestions / Re: Limitation on Repair on the Run
« on: January 31, 2013, 11:08:12 PM »
why not a repair minigame at the station when you go to repair?
(And while we're at it, let's run the game in 8-bit graphics)
I would hate having to do a minigame for every ship in my fleet. Just make me wait for a couple of ingame days, but fast forward time so it doesn't take a while.

What I was getting at was a simple click the damaged hull/armor to repair it, then I thought "that'll never work". (hence the sarcastic second line)

I wonder if we could mod in a multiplayer?
Or would Alex (not knowing who we are) find us and kill us with his particular set of skills?

I prefer the shuttle to everything else. Stick 2 tactical lasers on that puppy, and you can take out a hound in seconds.
Spoiler
Or you can do what I do and wait for it to run out of ammo on the autocannon and "sneak" in for the kill.

I didn't expect to fly around and take over the system with a fleet of as many capital ships as you can get.
Spoiler
I can't. I'm too poor from trying to improve my ships to buy better ones...  :'(

EDIT: I never expected doing donuts around an Onslaught that I just destroyed with the Buffalo I'd been piloting the whole battle. :D
