I discovered Starfarer through some digging after falling in love with SPAZ... I love 'customize your spaceship' space games, but X3 was lackluster in customization (although combat, of course, was great), and Gratuitous Space Battles is not real-time. Finally tried SPAZ when it was on sale on Steam for like $2.50, thought to myself "Man, there MUST be other games of the top-down real-time controls spaceships with lots of customization game genre!" Sure enough, I found Starfarer, watched a few quickly-searched YouTube videos, and instantly saw that it was (no offense to the SPAZ devs) much less arcade-y, but still maintaining the openness that I was looking for.

It's talking about other hard points or turrets, it can make outfitting a ship a bit faster. single missile racks will only ever carry one missile, so you only really use them if you can't afford a proper missile rack.

That's what I figured, while I was experimenting, since I was actually reading the console text what I was apparently doing was selling the missile and placing another one simultaneously in the now-empty slot.

Well, that was quick. And disappointing. It would be nice if missiles came 'single' all the time, and by buying more you would make a hardpoint into a rack... I seem to never find racks in station shops, but then to be fair I haven't played the game much beyond earning a Destroyer...

Bumping for interest. Luckily, I actually search the forums before making new threads.

Would love to see EVE Online ships in this game, they've even got the hardpoints for it and everything, you just need to sprite them!

Of course, the beam/ballistic dichotomy might be hard, maybe make Amarr ships have mostly Energy slots, Gallente with mostly Ballistic, Minmatar with universals (and Caldari with missiles, of course)

EDIT: Also, I see some people worrying about copyright, you know the great thing about CCP? They LOVE their assets being used in other games' mods, so long as credit is given. I remember a Sins of a Solar Empire EVE mod that was going where they contacted CCP and they said "Yeah, go ahead, so long as you're not selling it".

CCP are, forgive my choice of adjectives (used to be a really heavy /v/-goer), one of the bro-est developers around. They're as passionate about spaceship games as us. Just contact them, OP, not only are chances very much in your favor, but NOT contacting them and then having this mod going might lead to some issues down the road.

I am sure this has been asked, so forgive my repetition. What is the story about missiles? What I mean is, while I was fitting my ship, a tooltip appeared, something like '"shift+click" (or maybe it was "control+click", since shift+click uninstalls modules) to add missiles'. I took this to mean I could place more missiles on a hardpoint, as I was installing single-missile racks from a station, I did whatever the tooltip said and there were interface noises... but then when I looked at my missile hardpoints, they were all single-missile racks, and had "ammo: 1". I know increasing missile count is what Extended Missile Racks does, but I could have sworn that it said something about "to add more missiles"... anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I'm going to quickly try to recreate it in the meantime.

My two cents: Ignore the people complaining about the color. You are the lead designer/director/whatever of the fictional company, you can use whatever color scheme you damned well please!

That said, I like the color scheme as it is, I can't quite place it but it reminds me of... something.

Just hopping in here to tell you guys that this mod is fantastic. Played vanilla SF and, while I loved it, it felt annoyingly... empty. With this, I can fly to any given corner of the map and have something other than Pirates to kill, not to mention that there's a good balance to new ships/equipment without it being overwhelming (i.e. so many choices I just wimp out and only use one given tech tree). Good job, mod team.
