Think I saw a thread like this a while back, but I failed at finding it.

You know you're addicted to Starfarer when you endure playing it in 15-20 fps on a crappy school computer when you are at school. (I never endure that torture FPS except for with SF) :)
lol :D I heard that a few school computers are only equipped with a video card that's pretty much useless except for putting an image on the screen, nice one by the way, oh yeah I also really like your Starfarer videos, they really helped my during my first few hours in the game when everything could kill me in a second.

I will do the first one, you know you're addicted to Starfarer when you look in the house and there is no food, and you automatically think "out of supplies, procure more supplies or run the risk of an accident", and then run to the store  :P, not sure if this thread belongs here so feel free to move it.

Suggestions / new damage type: incendiary

I was thinking new damage type called "incendiary"could be added to the game, the projectiles from the weapon would hit exposed enemy hull, the section of the ship would then have some kind of "internal fire" effect and the ship could take minimal damage over time, along with flux buildup, venting flux would extinguish the fire. this effect would be very minimal on armor, and have completely no effect on shields, shields would only take damage from the projectile itself and the incendiary effect would not activate. the only problem is what the fire effect should look like, and how to get it to not cause FPS lag when there is alot of it at once.

I am gonna be a commander who works for the tri-tach, but i'm gonna build my power until I can take over the tri, an use all their amazing ships, ( taking down whole pirate fleets with only a medusa in my saved game) not sure what I will do after that... maybe search for earth?.

And It's freakin amazing!, turns out it ran just fine on my old macbook (average 60 FPS even in large battles),
the combat feels familiar to freespace2, one of my most favorite games of all time, the graphics are awesome, and the gameplay is even better. but the best part is that it's still a alpha!, and if this is a alpha then I might fry my brain trying to fathom the final version :D, just wanted to say that this is an amazing game, keep up the good work ;D.

Suggestions / station fights

if this has not already been suggested, it would be cool if we could fly to a station, and in the station menu would be an option to attack the station, it would the be like normal combat mode except the station would be on the battlefield, it would have weapons and even some ships docked to it to give the impression that you caught them unaware, just a cool idea i had.

What would help is if you could tone down the action a bit, maybe make the ships less interesting, reduce the amount of weapons/ combinations available, then make all the stations sell the same things so there's no point in traveling anywhere leave this game alone
know what else you plan to add before the full release but I'm excited that there's more to come.

I've got a early 2008 Macbook. Internal Graphics and 4 GB Ram. Starfarer is running. There are occasional Frame Drops, but in my eyes it doesn't really impede game enjoyment.

It's not like you need an incredible machine to run Starfarer.
Ah, thanks for telling me that, the computer you described is the same VRAM (unless you are talking the white 2008 model)

as mine :) that means Starfarer will run fine, thanks.

Forgot to mention, I usually have steam running and iTunes pumping music at the same time, without any hits to FPS.
And I've only recently doubled my RAM.
So are you bragging or saying that Starfarer doesn't tax a GPU very much?.

somehow i find that hard to believe :-\, my computer can run amnesia the dark decent (most graphically intense game i have), fine on high settings  ??? but i don't know. How much RAM does that computer have?, it is 2GB and upgradable to 4GB just like my model, are you using 2GB or 4?.

I was wanting badly to play a space game, but they all worked only on windows :'(, then i saw SPAZ and was happy but saw it was only for windows, then i searched for indie space games, and starfarer came up, i saw it was for mac was only 10 dollars, i'm gonna buy it in a few days :o

i remember hearing that they didn't, but not sure, by the way this is the EXACT game i have been waiting for ;D, i was unable to play x3, because my computer didn't have enough power, this seems like a 2D version of that game and will no doubt run great on my computer, will be pre-ordering as soon as i can. :)
