Discussions / I'm Sorry
« on: July 13, 2023, 12:21:14 PM »
I returned from my journey, and wanted to play some more StarSector.
Then I noticed the game was asking me for a code witch instantly reminded me:
I never bought the game, I used a code I found online to *test* the game but I forgot to buy a code for myself. (and I've been playing it for years now)
That is why I wanted to write this apology.
I have now purchased a code for myself.
And I want to say the game is more then worth is asking price.

Suggestions / station sphere of influence
« on: October 11, 2022, 08:18:26 AM »
it would be nice if there was a barely visible sphere of influence around stations that shows you when you can engage on a fleet without the station being in range to help it.
I don't think it would be hard to implement and it would be a HUGE QOL upgrade to early game bounty hunting.

General Discussion / Is shield shunt a meme hullmod?
« on: July 24, 2022, 04:17:25 AM »
No matter if it's a vanilla ship or a modded one I can never find a ship where gimping your shields for a slight increase in armor (AND still costs OP) is ever remotely worth it.
maybe i haven't experimented with it enough but every time i try fighting [REDACTED] they just get melted.

General Discussion / whats the limit for com sniffers?
« on: July 14, 2022, 01:56:13 AM »
In the game it says that sniffers get found and removed and the more of them you have the sooner they get found.
so does anyone have any detailed info as to how long does one sniffer last and or how much does it decrease the duration of old sniffers when you add a new one?

Discussions / I found a relativly new space game.
« on: June 29, 2022, 09:31:02 AM »
Star Valor is a space game I found on a discount and gave it a try and hot diggity dog I have been having a blast.
Its a power fantasy. where you get a stock ship and outfit it with upgrades that you can craft/find/buy mix and match to your hearts content.
After you do missions for a faction be it recourse gathering, delivery or (my favorite)bounty hunting you get enough reputation with a faction you can purchase their faction specific ships.
there are 6 ship sizes :
1 Shuttle: the tiny bois.
2 Yacht: speedy bois.
3 Corvette: starting from this size you can confidently bounty hunt alone with adequate firepower and and speed to outrun battles you cant win.
4 Frigate: frigates are the perfect balance between speed and power also its the starting ship size for carriers(haven't tried carriers yet but i know they are great for a mining/refining builds).
5 Cruiser: Large ships that discard mobility for very high CHONK and firepower.
6 Dreadnought: moving fortress.

Discussions / how do you keep your forums up?
« on: April 26, 2022, 01:43:52 AM »
I'm currently lazing around at work, looking through the forums (as i usually do) and i just noticed that there is no add blocker jet there are no adds.
then i remembered that most of, if not all forum websites don't have adds.
how do they stay afloat?
PS : i have no idea how websites even work. (I just know it costs money)

General Discussion / what's your go-to fleet compossition?
« on: April 02, 2022, 07:53:02 AM »
I mainly run:
2 capitals
8 cruisers
1-3 destroyers
7-9 frigates
10 logistics

9
Frigates: excel in speed (aka taking those annoying checkpoints or) weaving in and out of combat.
Destroyers : too slow to chase frigates, and too weak to fight cruisers (let alone capitals) unless they somehow surround them.
I have yet to find any practical or combat use for them, other then Phaeton for its good early to mid game fuel capacity.
Cruisers : good tanks or have good carrier potential and have in my opinion the best cargo ship in the game (Colossus is Bea).
Capitals : unless surrounded, beats every other hull size in combat. are used when you want to lay siege to stations.

General Discussion / SatBombing the Hedge
« on: March 20, 2022, 11:19:15 AM »
as fun as that sounds, don't you get a huge reputation penalty on all factions if you sat bong a single planet?
and when i do satbomb the planet it doesn't kill it or its inhabitants.
so how do i get rid of the Hedge(or any faction)? permanently without having to capture every planet they own.
the more detailed the explanation/tips the better.
thanks in advance.

Discussions / how is the "total time logged in" calculated?
« on: December 11, 2021, 08:25:39 AM »
I've been logged in to the website for months without logging out. yet the counter still says I only have 1+days logged in.
I'm just curious.

Suggestions / reverse engineering blueprints
« on: November 17, 2021, 04:24:43 AM »
have something like a structure on your colony that allows it to dismantle a ship/weapon/wing you currently own and turn it into a blueprint.
this would slightly anger the faction you "copy" a blueprint from for each dismantle.

Suggestions / having 2 different types of SO.
« on: November 17, 2021, 02:38:52 AM »
Most ships get crippled by SO because of the heavy OP cost, range reduction and PPT drop making SO a niche hullmod that is a must have on very few ships and  a suisidal add-on on most others, so instead of rebalancing it why not have a heavy and a light version. the heavy version would be the current SO while the light version would have lower ups and downs. it would give all the other ships that would never take (the current)SO an option to sligtly improve theyr dps/speed for slight reductions to range and PPT as well as a smaller OP cost.
Having more options is always nice.

personally, i want to keep changing my fleet, but really don't like having to fly from colony to colony wasting so much flue supply and time just to swich out my ships.
so having a non-industry structure that would increase the amount of ships a colony can hold in exchange for some upkeep would be great.
could be called something like Naval storage.
