General Discussion / screens

so yea in the x series you can put different ships on popup windiows
it would be nice to press t+1 for example and have that create a pop up window of whatever you have targeted, that is drag able with an x to get rid of it. t+2, or something similar (maybe the f keys instead)

anyway is it even possible in this game to code a pop up window of the target?

Suggestions / Concerning fighters
« on: September 14, 2021, 11:17:45 AM »
Here's hoping someone makes a mechanic that allows you to control what fighters attack more effectively.
Being able to tell a ship to hold fighters in formation with home carrier, send specific wings to do specific things etc sounds great.
It would be nice to be able to have one wing escort home ship, one wing escort another/do specific strikes, or to be able to have wings specifically stay out of enemy ships range and attack only enemy fighters, and to be able to specify order of importance concerning what fighters are targeted.
Thanks

Suggestions / Fleet Splitting
« on: August 29, 2021, 04:43:00 AM »
I'm really interested in seeing a warband style management section wherein you can give officers of appropriate level control of some of your ships for various things, such as "wait here" or "patrol area" or "protect this colony"

Reason being: I prefer the speed of frigate combat and sometimes want to chase down smaller fleets; sometimes it's really fun to take on smaller bounty/system bounties(you know, the bounties where you get baseline reward per ship) and having my massive capital ship/station breaker fleet is really not conducive to that; besides, sometimes I really need to leave my fleet to protect a colony while I take my search and destroy destroyer fleet to mop up stragglers/go take a few smallish boutnies to keep credits rolling in.

It's worth mentioning I play with mods that add in essentially station level craft, so burn speed can really tank in my games.

Anyway I think it would still be a good addition to vanilla, and I'm sure you're already thinking about it, but I just wanted to hopefully drum up some support for it to come in the next big update.

Suggestions / transponder "tricker"
« on: August 06, 2021, 06:43:57 PM »
so yea an or item or hullmod or ability that makes enemy fleets think youre an ally when you turn the transponder off (if you dont get too close)

perhaps the item route could involve putting whichever one you want active at the end of inventory

a skill gained from the sensor tree (or hullmod)

or maybe a set of hullmods wherein you oufit enough ships with a factions version to trick them into thinking youre allied unless you get specifically scanned by a patrol
or maybe a one size fits all version of that

personally i like the idea of it being item based, and you would have to collect them, perhaps from underworld types in bar events, or whatever other way seems appropriate and fun

Suggestions / combat boarding
« on: July 27, 2021, 04:11:09 PM »
ram a ship, stick to it, send in the marines!
i know this is a serious stretch..... a hullmod that lets you stick to enemy ship, disabling weapons of both until boarding action is done, and if you win the enemy ship becomes yours

or something like that

the original space pirates and zombies kind of had this sort of thing in it

ANYway, i juuuust want to be able to actually ram enemy ships to great affect a la WARHAMMER WAAAAAGH style taking your ship

Suggestions / why can i dock at stations under siege?
« on: July 25, 2021, 05:19:15 PM »
anyway this is something i have just recently contemplated

if anyone has any neat ideas regarding this, please share!
i remember the mount and blade approach being "attempt to sneak in" though im not entirely sure that would work here, unless you have a shuttle and only want to talk to someone
perhaps multiple options could exist, as in other situations?
