Its a lot more work to buff everything below an outlier than to nerf the outlier, or vice versa.

I think is still better idea than nerf stuff, that way its actually gives new options rather that forces them, I don't understand why everybody here see Tempest, Doom and etc as bad things, I usually don't use frigates, not my thing as carriers, but Tempest and Omen are few exceptions, Doom is still have drawback as Phase ship, which means what its AI isn't that good and it more a player ship, I usually don't use more that one phase ship because phase ship AI often commit suicide or too afraid to attack enemy.

About mod balance overall, I think vanilla game must not rely on their balance at all, except cases where modded content get integrated in the game.

And for ship strength and overall survivability, its more AI issue by my observation, Low Tech often tend to get surrounded, where High Tech ships especially with SO have enough mobility to get away, Low Tech often suffer by disabling-enabling shield on full flux, ships like very much to scatter and get killed by one, if they not controlled, but command points is limited and not always possible to keep an eye on them when piloting own flagship, ship like Dominator or Onslaught especially vulnerable when they alone, AI also tend to be afraid to attack, Doom mines can exploit omni shields, but again, its more an AI issue, and again, this work only if doom piloted by player, AI randomly spawn mines around target.

Why nerf stuff? Tempest, Doom, Paragon, etc? They are ships with interesting subsystems and such, I don't want to see them removed or nerfed to the ground, so nobody will use them which is equal to just removing them altogether.

I mean if you think what they over-perform why not buff under-performers then? High-Tech and Midline is okay, but Low Tech heavily under-perform in 095 in my opinion, especially considering nerf of skill which gives armor and new zero-flux bonus from Helmsmanship, in player hands it might be more powerful that one from 091, but for AI its nerf because every PD laser will disable this zero flux and he will be always kitted, AI can't just disable all weapons and try catch the enemy, and he will cover with shield against non treating weapons such as anti-fighter missiles and tactical laser which also won't let it catch things. Low Tech have bad flux stats and low mobility, but theoretically armor should tank for some time if ship need to flush flux but can't retreat to safety, but again AI will suffer under heavy fire by disabling-enabling shield when flux is almost maxed, and he will sustain more damage or even get overload than if he just flushed flux under fire.

I think skills and AI need more work instead of nerfing good ships, since skills are heavily affecting balance and some new skills instead of making game more diverse on the contrary shifted focus to High Tech and Safety Overrides, especially new zero flux because from my personal feel everything without SO become slowpoke, and AI still do many silly thing which hurt its combat efficiency.

DomRes drones are recoverable with auto recovery skill, when I raided Manchester system I was able to recover them. except Guradian Station, they are improved versions of derelicts but still not being very useful, Mess ships are not recoverable through.

Same thing in Version 1.5.4a, Sierra ship's ability bar goes off the screen, and ability can't be used, in past version its was working fine. Also another thing with Sierra core itself, its build in in Cruiser, but when you stash ship the core remains in officer list, and you can add it as officer into another ship. :)

But overall I like changes with this quest, first of all its good what station guard is reduced, in 0.9.1 version it was guarded by several REDACTED capitals, not to mention smaller ships like cruisers and such, because when you can destroy that force you usually powerful enough and don't need that cruiser, and I tried in past version, Sierra's cruiser become much better that in past version, although sadly its got broken.

Can I make suggestion?

I like campaign exploration additions like mess systems, systems with Domain Resurgent drones and such, I think is good idea generate these systems in random sector mode in Nex, just like Arsenal Expansion spawns same IX Battlegroup system even with random sector mode, or make random generated systems with Mess or DomRes presence and with Red Water and Crystal worlds :)

About Cargo Modules, ApproLight mod have Granary cargo ship, in standard variation its both Fuel and Cargo transport, but it have special Fuel and Cargo modules which turn it into dedicated Tanker or Freighter, its seems work nice.

Quite interesting mod which add a lot of unique campaign content. About suggestions, Brighton lacks own capital vessel, I think both Guardian(Scav) and Radiant(Scav) will be good fit, and maybe option to generate unique systems like one with Mess in Nex randomized sector, because if playing with random sector alot of mod content will be missed.

Also interesting how Brighton will be balanced when next version of Starsector came out, where you can use actual automated ships.

Really nice ship and weapon pack, this one and other yours mods are always must have for me.

About Lostech and other ships from mod scattered as derelicts, interesting they always should be recoverable or there is a chance what it can't be recovered at all? I found two Samsara cruisers, one I was able to recover, other one I can only salvage for resources, and recently found Nirvana, but I wasn't be able to recover it too, I don't know its bug or intended, but I'm sure when I played on 0.3.16 version I always was able to recover them.

Also idea with unique derelicts is really great, its make exploring unknown systems more rewarding.

The concept very similar to the Beast from Homeworld Cataclysm. As for my personal preference I think its better be as mod, its looks outplaced in vanilla game, as any other alien stuff, in this case Starsector reminds myself of RimWorld, where is no any aliens too, only hostile ancient human-made mechanoids, and personally I don't like meaty ships, like I don't like meaty levels from first Doom games. I think same role but be more lore friendly can take aggressive [REDACTED] which instead of just sitting in their systems starts actually attack core worlds for example.

About that crash, seems it was completely random, I didn't experienced it for now, also about Serrano, as said Khornaar, drones die quickly in focus formation, even if I don't kite back, when I played it in simulation against Dominators, Kingston drones lives much better because of shield, maybe good idea add to Serrano drones tiny fighter sized shield too?

Also I found funny behavior with Combat Chatter and Automatic Orders mods, these mods treated deployed drones as ships, not as fighters, with Combat Chatter drones at low HP or death says things like "Tell my wife and kids I love them." or other human-like phrases, and with Automatic Orders once drone get damaged below 50% it says damage threshold reached below 50 and retreating, but drone actually work as intended.

Really nice idea and sprite work, your mod looks really promising, and visually it fits vanilla style perfectly.

I didn't experienced any crashes before I bought Kingston, and I even fight some pirates before with it, and about more specifics, it was piloted by AI with officer, not as player flagship, and I updated recently mod from 0.5.2 version to 0.5.3 without starting new game.
