General Discussion / Re: Why isn't this game on steam early access?

Its kinda difficult to recommend the game to others because the website looks kinda sketchy.

I still would like it on steam because steam workshop is still a lot better than manually modding the game or using nexus. Would also help out people who got steam decks to play the game more simply.

Updates might not matter too much if the base game is fun with better mod support. Look at how Rimworld and Kenshi did.

Still wondering why this game not on steam... would have gifted it to so many people. A lot of people I recommended this game to didn't want to try it because of the weird launcher and website to download and get it, even if it was for free! Most people are used to game ecosystems such as Steam or Epic games stores.

Would most likely expand the player base and steam workshop would make mods so much easier to deal with. Plus more sales too.

This game is great. Another game kinda similar to it SPAZ is also really popular. I only heard of this game randomly on some forums or else I would have never found this masterpiece.

General Discussion / Re: My personal vanilla Starsector ships Tier-list

The best fleets are carrier fleets. Just spam fighters and bombers that have 5000 range and are undodgeable. They will shred any fleets without full radius shields. The AI also freaks out and tries to attack fighters if they do not have fighter superiority which means you'll win most engagements if you can secure the void space. Then you slam on long range missiles on your carriers with missile racks and delete whole fleets.

Fighter spam is the easiest thing to farm AI cores - they can't teleport away from long range fighter swarms to vent. Its the same for attacking bases. You just park outside the range of stations and send in fighter squadrons to delete it.

I agree, there also shouldn't be be a cap on officers or there needs to be a wider selection of them. I mostly want cautious for carriers and steady for everything else, but only having few officers spawn in worlds with millions of people isn't that practical.

I deleted all my military relays. The AI doesn't also seem to use them so its kinda unfair too.

I think something is wrong with military relays. If you have fleet size to max and have a relay it can increase fleet size an absurd amount. I currently have like 3000% increase and once I put an AI core in high command I suddenly get 20000% fleet size which crashes the game.

This is update save game safe? Or do you need new game?

I guess if you really want to gate some content you can just make a building or industry that is like a "research lab" then you get special menu to research and invent the other buildings.

Also guys, remember that starsector is space game with magical phase tech and stuff. Normal physics doesn't completely apply.

I have the same issue as this. It starts when memory gets around 30% for me. I allocated 7.7gb to the game. I know because you can check it with console command mod.

Apparently the problem also exist if you have high relations and request for help too. You can get infinite money that way also. I think there should be some debuff that doesn't allow you to request for aid too much. Maybe something like that for intimidation too.

Agreed, but it shouldn't be infinite, exactly, as unless there is a bug going on here it should lock you out from re-requesting anything for 30 in game days per fleet. Are you able to spam the dialogue for a single fleet?

Thing is you can just go around begging people for money in a circle that would give more money than really anything else. In my sector I got a lot of allied fleets around to beg money from and with 100 reputation they all give me money. And you can beg and extort money from your faction fleets for around 600k each time. Just doing that for 10 mins gave me over 10 million credits.

Can't do it for a single fleet but if you got like 20 different fleets coming and going in your sector you can just sit around and beg and get more money than whole planets provide.

Has anyone tried running this with Archean Order?

Playing with it right now.
