Tonight, 'parrentally, we'll begin to see the new console war as the PS4 is obviously being announced. It's been a hefty two days, what with Nvidia saying with Titan 'OK, we're going to have the single GPU ultimate cards running failed SUPERCOMPUTER GPUs (!!!) (Geforce Titan runs Tesla cores that cannot run in server blades for being too hot or something)' which will kickstart a crazy new generation of graphics (for a single GPU card, this thing is monstrous) for PC gaming.

But unfortunately, as Crytek have said without breaking their NDAs (and based on rumours, and rumours figured out the exact specs of Titan a while back) the new PS4 and Xbox 360 will be about as much of a performance increment as the Wii U was over the original Wii. They'll be gimmick based systems and will make it so that console gamers who want 'games' will need to go to PC  - there's some strange and frightening stuff that is being talked about like forced Kinect usage, touchscreens - all that jazz that probably will either kill the consoles as all the 'gamers' want their FPSes back and such, which means they'll have to defect to PC (OH PLZ OH PLZ OH PLZ) or mean that games as we know them die (quite a few devs/publishers have been commenting that mobile markets will rule in the coming years)?

Discuss, but try not to turn this into a 'PC gaming is better in every way' debate - because, for one, it is no debate, it's fact, but for two that belongs in the Destiny topic :P

Some history on this - my universe began in late 2009, in the form of the book Wicked Wanderer, covering the titular ship based on Sabre fighters from Project Sylpheed with a wicked time freezing twist. It was bad. Very bad. But from it I began creation of my universe.
I began SW, and if you hunt you can find the old remnants of an argument with WarStalkeR (Let's do that again with the reworked lore, eh?) which really sucked.

Then, someone along the line (and I don't know where) around the time of writing up the idea for my Overworld mod, the entire lore went under redesign. Like, nothing survived except two characters and Wanderer. And even those didn't resemble the originals at all.
Currently, there are four books in writing (TM, LAW, BFHW, F) abbreviated to maintain secrecy. This is the first time anyone else has EVER seen any of this work. I've just finished The Tenth Machination in LAW, so the previous few are going to be fleshed out entirely.

So, Salamanders are EMP missiles that track engines.

I don't get the code for it, but the lore states it tracks heat. Heat seeker.

Here's an idea to add some usability to these weapons and make them (as an EMP device) compete with ion cannons, Omen's, Shade's and whatever else can do EMP way better.

Firstly, minor boost to EMP damage. Just minor.

Secondly (the big thing), make them REAL heat seekers. I'm talking if I fire something that generates heat (IE a Hellbore cannon firing) then the Salamander sees that heat as higher and tracks the hellbore instead. In other words, if your PD system fires into a salamander or such, then you could have your PD network knocked out as the Salamander tracks into it. Salamanders go from being anti engine unused missiles to being something that can be tactically thrown out to harm weapons and generally become a viable replacement to the Omen should it be needed.

My medusa with dual phase beams killed a Buffalo MK2, and I randomly decided to shoot at it. To my surprise, I noticed that the engines on the dead hulk of the MK2 would actually flame out normally (or at least display the effect of flaming out) if hit by the EMP effect of the Phase Beam.

I don't know if this occurs elsewhere.

Sigh, as I lose my Medusa and Tempest as my computer randomly closes everything.

Could we please get more saving everywhere? Or an autosave in iron mode? Being used to M&B where it saves before and after every battle I wasn't worried until I saw my progress vanish. Twas frustrating.

Or maybe if that's not how iron mode should be, a steel mode that does that.

The Lasher standard variant uses augmented engines and extended missile racks, even if the player has no access to them. This really only affects players that spawn in with a Lasher, but strange nonetheless.
