Mods / Re: [0.96a] Tahlan Shipworks

Do you want to play a game with Legio Infernalis, but with close to zero Tahlan ships in most other faction fleets? Do you want to play a game with all the Kassadar weapons and hulls disabled? If so, I can provide you with my .faction and .CSV files to replace (drag and drop). I made a bunch of edits to them, took about 15-20 minutes. Seems to work so far.

I just wanted to play a vanilla-friendly game with pretty much only Legio Infernalis - not the huge amounts of non-vanilla ships. No insult to the creator, as I've greatly enjoyed playing with those before.

Posting this to save someone the trouble of making tons of .faction and .CSV edits, if anyone is interested.

Thanks a lot for making this wonderful mod. I really appreciate how much thought, math, and work you put into it. I love challenge mods, and Starpocalypse served me well for a while, but I’ve come to realize that it only provides an early game challenge. That’s where your mod comes in! Actually, I’ve just swapped to your mod only to improve compatibility. Oh yeah, the customization and LunaLib support is also great.

Hi, I have lobster content disabled and DE lite mode enabled, since before starting my current save. Lobster fighters are still dropping, and still appearing on markets, e.g., Jangala black market.

"adversary",  "lw_autosave",  "lw_console",  "customizablestarsystems",  "Diktat Enhancement",  "interestingportraitspack",  "Imperium",  "lw_lazylib",  "lunalib",  "MagicLib",  "nexerelin",  "RustyCabbage_SecondWaveOptions",  "speedUp",  "tahlan",  "US",  "audio_plus",  "shaderLib"

Edit, not sure if this is significant, but I set my preferences and saved them in Luna, in the main menu, before starting my game.
However, when I checked settings.json, I saw: "DEdisablelobers":false . I've just set it to true in case it fixes the issue, but I can also edit some .csv files if need be.

Edit: unfortunately, changing settings.json did nothing to my current save.

Well done, Nia Tahl, with this excellent mod. I love how brutally mean Legio Infernalis is. Finally, I feel challenged, and, frankly, afraid. I will have to make a new save and play a bit nicer with them. I stole back one of the planets they conquered, by the skin of my teeth, and paid the price ever since. Lesson learned!

Version 1.0.0, everything works except the 1-100x for combat. It's slower than the normal 2x, and honestly I don't know enough to troubleshoot. No one else seemed to discuss the issue, so it might just be me.
FYI, I did some basic stuff to prepare for mods like increasing ram already. Currently installed mods aren't fancy, just nexerelin with some factions and ship.

What's your frame rate running at in combat with 1-100x enabled in combat? If it's below 60, it will run slower than 2x because, by default, it won't let you go faster than 1x speed per 30 FPS, which is the minimum stable amount for the engine.

Thank you for taking up the mantle!

Starman, I've tested your fork and it works quite well. Now almost all features are working well, as far as I can tell.

One thing: I don't think stingy recoveries is functioning. A story point is no longer required to recover all ships. This has persisted across saves and in multiple battles.

It seems the OP (Jaghaimo) has given his blessing to make a new post to discuss any new forks; that way, he said, he can lock this thread. No pressure whatsoever, however. I'm thankful for this fork, whatever you decide!

I made a fork and made the updates that seemed to be needed to get this working with 0.96a.

As soon as I can figure out the github actions permissions sorted out I'll push up a release for download. A 0.96a release is now available for download.

https://github.com/frakern/starpocalypse/releases/download/3.0.0/starpocalypse-3.0.0.zip

Anyone else who wants to work with me on this, please reach out and we can discuss future plans.

Thank you Starman13 and Jaghaimo!!

Thanks for the fantastic mod. One of my favorites! Where should we discuss branches / unofficial updates for it?

Edit: as others on the unofficial discord have noted, it appears to work with 0.96a, provided you edit mod_info.json.

Don’t forget, we must all stay calm and not harass DR. Everything is fine. *starts hyperventilating* *stalks profile*… good, good, he’s alive. In all seriousness, I haven’t minded not having it on so far in my 0.96a campaign. But to be double true, it will be double good when it’s back. But I’m spoiled by the quality normal maps he makes. I don’t think I’ll use any unofficial version for that reason alone.

Brillant idea. Anything that takes pressure off the single-CPU-core limitation is of the utmost importance! If only it were possible to apply this performance enhancement to all applicable vanilla particles.

Appreciation post for the Rust Belt faction. In particular, doing a mining (early and mid game) playthrough with nexerelin - the Bergslag Mining Ship is so much fun. I love the unique design. I just love the faction, weapons, hull mods, everything. After playing the hell out of this game I’ve found something that rekindled my desire to play it. I use starpocalypse and disabled the vanilla stipend, along with a few other things to enhance the difficulty. Fun! Chad modder.
