You can disable Windows 10 text scaling specifically for an application. I found the solution in this Microsoft support article regarding scaling issues, under the Workarounds > Change application properties section. Make sure to change the setting for both starsector.exe, and java.exe, and all will be well again.

The article mentions apps being DPI aware in that article. Not sure if/how that may apply to Starsector. Might be a way to trace the issue.

I'm sure different people will have different ideas as to what the "correct" intervals are. Maybe a player accessible setting would be useful here.

Hel Hound, eh? That's a surprise and a half, especially in a weak looking Legio merchant fleet. Are they supposed to show up just like that, and not in some bounty of a "You will die" level?

I think the newly gained speed is a blessing and a curse for ORA. Yes, mobility helps them engage/disengage, but the quicker movements do not mesh with many ORA weapons, which are slow projectiles. Watching them in battle, I see a looot of misses.

Yes, a separate setting for ships with and without officers should mostly take care of it.

I do not mean spam in the sense of "too many messages", but in the sense that many end up irrelevant. If I understand the feature correctly, you have to click through one proposal to get the next one, which adds tedium.

It would be nice if one could disable the ship traits notification for specific ships, not for everything. While I care about the specifics of my core fleet, I could not give two s#its about some disposable frigates or freighters. The either-or approach means you either see nothing, or your intel gets spammed with "important" notifications that aren't.

You can drag vengeance fleets into whatever faction is at war with their faction. If you cruise around the core worlds, they generally just die. I've had multiple instances of only getting a "vengeance fleet defeated" message without even seeing those idiots.

Clicking on the bar interaction to access the unsanctioned bounty board sometimes results in a crash that is not immediate. You click, you get a null pointer exception info in the UI, and can't select any bounty. If you keep clicking, or leave the bounties and perform a different bar interaction, Starsector crashes. Any help in tracking the culprit mod would be appreciated.

Edit: More Combat Terrain Effects, Luddic Enhancement, and Lights Out were added for a new run after the problem first appeared.

I noticed that some update changed the Sparrowhawk system to quick movement instead of teleportation. On one hand, I miss the ability to turn around quickly. On the other hand, playing bowling with enemy ships is a lot of fun. It's also nice to not lose shields in combat, even if only briefly.

Exotic tech is fun. Also, there seems to be nothing really exotic about it in terms of availability. Literally every other market has it. No need to explore, or pay out the a$$ at Prism. Why?

You need officers to deploy more ships effectively? Oh no! It's almost as if commanders are important in a battle.

Is there a way to teach the scavengers how to properly compare fleet strength? They often force battles where their mainly freighters plus some escorts ram themselves into my small-but-deadly, highly upgraded battle fleets. I am using about 150% larger battle size and max fleet size than vanilla. Could that be causing the issue? Pics because it did happen:

Hello. I redownloaded this mod recently, but there does not seem to be a config file any more. How do I set the default values that take effect when not specific hull mod is installed? The mod's settings.json only contains a designTypeColors parameter.

GraphicsLib + maximum zoom in will make Starsector look just as good in battle. Except you rarely do that, because it only kinda works for tiny battles with a few ships, or if you are 100% spectating.

Separately, the Steam reviews clearly show this is not a viable product. It would be cool to see a focus on small scale space battles, but this is not it.

In addition to so many special cases being extremely difficult to follow (F the new player, right?), this only covers the issues you know about (have documented). Even looking at the complexity of "only" vanilla Starsector, you can be 100% sure you have not -- and will never -- recognise all such special cases.

Broken stuff will always exist, and these fixes often feel like punishment directed at experienced players for finding it. The noobs would never know anyway. Instead of getting bogged down in the details, I would strongly suggest focusing on making the initial experience balanced and easy to follow.
