It's not just quality of life, you are going above and beyond with this stuff. It's everything we've wanted for years and MORE. Great stuff Alex.

Also, for those who are worried about Autosave, the newer Java versions really speed up save times compared to good ol' Java 7. Even Java 8 was like... x5 the speed at least. I'm sure Java 17 is even faster. So you shouldn't have to wait 30 seconds for the game to save anymore.

Any plans to review Starsector version 0.97a after the Iron Shell Mod Review?
I currently have a lot of videos on my "to do" list. I'll see about getting to a .97a review, would hopefully be shorter since it was a much smaller update. The Iron Shell video took me roughly 5 months to put together, so I'm looking forward to completing some smaller projects heh. Thanks for the kind words!

For some reason the forum post isn't showing the videos thumbnail like all the rest of them.
Edit: So I found out why it wasn't showing up. You need to remove the "?si=TXv0foT_gBRD24P3" part of the link.
Ah interesting, I removed that section. I'll give the forum some time and hopefully it updates! If it doesn't, I'll try reposting. Thanks for the heads up!

To clarify, when you say it appears as a bounty against hegemony at level 10, is that:
A. Random sectorwide bounty after reaching level 10
B. Bounty given by contact after level 10
C. Bounty given in bar after level 10
D. Level 10 somehow being relation based

I'm not commissioned with Arma, is that going to matter for acquiring the XIV Watchdog? Thanks for the help, I'll give what feedback I can once I acquire the Watchdog!

Really great patch notes

Love the look of all of this. AI avoiding hazards like black holes, Alt for quick transfer, Reverse Polarity and all those skill swaps for hyperspace. MAN, absolutely packed with QoL changes. Really great stuff.

I'm also happy some of the older weapons are getting updates and love. I was wondering what your current thoughts were on missiles. Missile Autoloader seems like a really fun hullmod but simply costs too much unless you happen to land in the ideal bracket. It's really nice for AI so they ACTUALLY pace their missile use rather than busting all their missiles at the start of a fight. I personally love reloading missiles so I'm obviously biased but I feel like that hullmod could be so much more. Certain missiles like the Jackhammer that have insanely low ammo are really hampered by AI usage. With those precious two volleys often getting wasted. It's good to see that frigates won't be such magnets but AI missile / torpedo usage is always a tricky thing to get perfect. Just wondering what you were feeling design wise about the current state of missile / torpedo usage.

A few feedback points.
1. Talked to the Blond lady contact that has the highlighted gold text. When I spoke to her and chose option 2 "I appreciate that" or something along those lines, game crash. I was not commissioned, I'd take a look at those speech options.
2. Testing the XIV mech, it has blue arms with energy weapons. XIV should be all ballistic for thematic reasons. And the blue obviously contrasts with the black and orange.
3. How does one acquire the XIV Watchdog? I need it for certain... [REDACTED] purposes.

Hello Starsector friends! I put together a guide video going over how to upgrade to Java 8, increase ram allocation, and increase the Battlesize setting for a bigger and smoother Starsector experience!

The Java 8 version featured is update v271, which I believe is the most stable and easiest version to get working. If you'd like a written guide, Wisp, our local Starsector tech wizard, has an excellent guide here on the forum: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=25974.0

-After switching to java 8, if you are having issues with the launcher / resolution / screen ***: Right-click Starsector.exe -> properties -> compatibility -> change high DPI settings -> tick checkbox for "Override...Scaling performed by Application".

I mistook a devmode feature that was causing me crashes and attributed it to this mod. After further testing, the issue is unrelated to SCVE. SCVE works perfectly!
