I am able to run Aquaria / Egoboo / Armatron Advanced / Legends / and many many more! So I don't think it is the AMD drivers or OpenGL (Legends uses OpenGL for sure).

I looked at it and to be honest it didn't really get me a solution.  Did a search to see if anyone outside of this game is having the issue and I found the following -

The solution was to use the "-3drend sw" argument on launching comsol

I was getting the "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment" and the above worked for me!

No offense - but can someone let me know a step by step for a fix on this - the last thing I want to do is program the game I purchased.  I purchased it because I felt it would be in a condition that I could use it.  I will be glad to make minor changes to get it working, but having to figure it out for myself is not what I was paying for...

Apparently it has to do with ATI video cards and this game.  I read through the post and copied old ./starfarer.sh to a bak then edited original .sh to what you put and I still can not load the game with out it crashing any ideas and clear method of making the game work?  Let me know.

You should see if you could get hooked up with Humble Bundle group.  They don't do DRM, but they definitely get paid.. they also help out FSF and charities as well... check their stats with the other Humble Bundles they have had before.. Last I believe was around $900,000+... but that was between a couple of groups... still.. it could be interesting... I think it is an awsome idea and helps get you game and name out there to the masses.

Just Pre-Ordered the game.. was exicited to try it out and got the following error when loading game from ./starfarer.sh.
