Mods / Re: [0.9a] Ship/Weapon Pack 1.10.0

Hey Dark!

Thanks for your awesome ship packs as always but I think that the new version of the mod breaks the game? Can anybody else confirms they are having a crash at the loading screen since updating to the latest version?

This is what the crash log reports:

14452 [Thread-4] ERROR com.fs.starfarer.loading.SpecStore  - Ship system [swp_fluxdisturber] not found in ship_systems.csv
14467 [Thread-7] INFO  com.fs.starfarer.loading.scripts.ScriptStore  - Compiling script [data.scripts.shipsystems.SWP_FluxDisturberStats]

Correct me if I'm wrong but the swp_xxxxx files are from your mod, correct?

Disregard my post.

Completely deleting the mod is needed with this new version. You cant just copy and replace the files if this can help anyone having the same issue!

I use 10 but still get java heaps. It appears that you really can't run every mod with Starsector as of right now.Hopefully the developer and moders will make things work when the final release has been done

I agree that something seems to cause the game to eat RAM like crazy.

4
Are you sure that there's not something wrong on your end? I run every faction mod updated for 0.8.1 and I have never had any memory issues with only 4GB allocated.

You're running Dynasector, Nexelrin and all the compatible factions for both those mods using only 4gigs of RAM and you do not have any issues?!?! Can you post a screenshot of the mods you're using and a screenshot of your task manager while Starsector is running?! I am sorry, I dont want to sound rude but I dont believe you.

I am pretty sure my computer is not at fault here:

I5-4790k overclocked to 4.5, water cooled
GTX1080
16 gigs of RAM

Never had an issue with anything else before. I can post my dxdiag log if need be.

I did a few tests though and it appears that slowly the game just increases its memory usage as time passes. When I load my save from a fresh start, it starts at using about 6.5g of RAM and then slowly increases up to 7.8-9 gigs.

Thats not really normal at all. There IS really something wrong somewhere with the way the game uses RAM. To me it all indicates to some kind of memory leak.

Do you have the min and max set to the same level? That should help. Also, certain mods are heavier than others

Yep, 8g - 8g... :(

Did you type in 8g or 8192m for the xms/xmx params?  I know technically 8g is supposed to work, but from my personal experience, half the programs that use Java that I've used do not accept the "g" tag as a viable syntax when setting memory limits.  8g ends up being set as 800 megabytes, or some other odd number, for some reason.  However, typing out the full number in megabytes, IE: 8192m has always worked for me.

8g works fine, I monitored it using task manager. The game uses around 7.6-7.8 gigs of RAM with all the factions from Dynasector and Nexelrin runnning and other feature mods.

Quick question again guys, how much memory do I need to run this game with Nexelrin and Dynasector combined? I allocated 8g of ram to my Java and I am STILL receiving those Java Heap memory errors saying that I am above the safe treshold or whatever.

So yea... 8 gigs of RAM aint enough to run the game fully moded or am I missing something here?

8
Thank you guys for those inputs. I'm going to try surveying a little and try not to abuse it! ;-)

I like going super nuts with a wolf and a kite, killing as many pirate fleets as i can early on. with the burst of starting money and exp from Jangala bounties, i move onto some exploration, and then decide what i want to do.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong then as I spent the last 2-3 hours killing pirates there and I am breaking even... :-( Do you take the commission from the hegemony?

10
I should mention that I am playing heavily modded as I always played starsector modded.

But yea... as per the tittle, how do you guys make your money in the begining? I am so broke... I just cant seem to find a way to reliably make a little extra on the side to upgrade my fleet... :(

Sorry for the noob question, I tried to look a couple of pages back, but I am not sure I fully understand whats going on with SS+. Is the mod dead? I dont see the compatible factions anymore?

If someone could TLDR whats up to me, I would be really grateful.

Thanks!

I have a question guys: is it possible to disable the god mode command? I needed it to win an impossible fight with way to much things done without having saved before, but now I would like to undo the god mode... Is that possible?

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know how much allocated memory you guys are using to run the game? I posted not long a ago having problems with loading saves after a certain time had elapsed in the campaign. I first had 4 gig of ram allocated and it seemed fined up to a certain point where I could no longer load my saves. So I changed it again to 5 gig and thought that it had solved my problem because I could finally load my saves again!! So I played some more up until the point where, AGAIN, I can't load my save anymore EVEN with 5 gig of ram allocated in java.

Am I the only one having that problem?!? This is getting so old now... And quite frankly, I don't even feel like playing anymore...

So yea, has anyone encountered that problem?

Finally fixed my save loading problem wooooooooooot!!!!!! Thanks for the inputs Dark.Revenant, it was indeed a memory problem (still cant believe 4 gig was not enough though!).

Anyways, after seeing how some people think this game is too easy, I am curious to know how they make their money? I always find myself low on cash and in the need to find a super deal to trade and make money instead of just having fun and fighting...

So, how do you guys make your money in SS+ and how are you able to afford buying all those big shiny ships and maintaining big fleets?

Gentlemen,

I fixed the problem. At least, I think. It was a memory problem. It needs more than 4 gig to run SS+ and all the mods it seems. I tried to change the memory allocation to 5 gig, and after 2 tries (dont know why), it finally loaded and now it loads every time.

All in all, man... 5 gig of ram for this game seems like a lot! Even with all those mods enabled!  ;) Dont know if its like that only for me though! But anyways, I am so glad I can finally continue my game! Thanks a whole lot guys for responding to me and assisting me with this matter! Hope it helped someone else!
