General Discussion / Re: Let's talk about Battlefreighters
« on: February 20, 2025, 12:35:19 PM »
it's not overconfident. It's the relative space paradigm

the Gemini is actually positioning perfectly well and reviewing the incoming threat properly. It's just that due to its extremely limited acceleration/deacceleration and max speed stats. It seems as if it's charging into the enemy. When in reality it's trying to run away. But because you are observing the Gemini from its perspective. It seems as if it's going towards the enemy. When in reality the battlefield is moving towards it

I'm pretty sure this is exactly the problem, try giving it 100+ speed or something stupid and it will be a completely different ship.

Can you comment as to what the overall goal was with this? Just in general what type of changes to expect with regards to how the balance is altered?

Just wanted to say I am enjoying this ship pack. I especially enjoy all the extra civilian ships makes a independent playthrough more enjoyable.

Maybe I'm undervaluing cargo space, and overvaluing protected fuel. I'll test it out some more.

Personal new high record. Got 20 lys from desperately running up-stream of a slipstream trying to find a sub-stream that leads back to civilization and ran out of fuel a few clicks out but thankfully drifted into a friendly heg-controlled sector. Would be a shame to die to the Persie bastards after such a glorious tour.

Absolutely gorgeous.
I got 1.2k data and literally crashed the market, causing +2 availability somehow(It still is one hundred per piece thankfully)
I also:
-tricked a pirate fleet into resupplying me
-told a scavenger cap'n that, despite me being out of town for probably a year at that point, her company got absolutely crunched by the market and she'd do good to scrub her ID and get the hell outta dodge.
-tricked ghetto-GLaDos into shutting itself down
-Dodged a head-on collision against an Ordos floating down the same stream I'm going up in reverse gear.(I really should get to talking to Ms. Midnight but I want to farm more alpha cores. The greed of humanity, eh?)

Can you talk about what ships you used for this?

I'm loving this mod but the one thing that bothers me is how some civilian ships seem penalized in exploration with no real reason, the prime example of this is the Venture, this seems like it should be a great exploration ship, and it is in vanilla, but due to it being a civilian hull, it seems unusable with this mod if you want to do any real exploring. Perhaps I am missing a mechanic though.

Question about how the battle difficulty is calculated in Ruthless Sector, Looking at the description, it seems like there is no difference between a brawler and a wayfarer when calculating the expected battle difficulty. Same with say a Gemini and a enforcer. Am I thinking about this correctly? If so that seems odd, it seems to me you'd have a much more difficult battle using a equivalent DP combat freighter then a combat ship, I wonder if this can be accounted for somehow?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm also using Perilous Expanse, and because of how fuel works, I find myself wanting to use combat freighters more, which I really like, but I'm finding it very hard to win battles where I have any kind of bonus exp using wayfayers/gemini's as an example. Just wanted to get other's thoughts.

Hello, This looks cool I'm going to give it a try, I'm curious, does you get extra rewards for bounties that are distant from center? I saw a line about exploration, but it seems bounties would work the same way.

Mods / Re: [0.96a] Mayasuran Navy 10.0.2 RC1
« on: February 11, 2024, 10:04:29 AM »
The issue seems to be a lack of administrators for Mayasura, since I think you can only commission through them. I don't think you can turn in survey data or AI cores either. Is there a way to fix this in my current save, by running a command or something?

Is this intentional ? Seems like you should be able to get a commission if just doing vanilla starsector with this one mod installed.

I've downloaded the latest version, and am trying to start a new game using only this mod and it's requirement. I can't seem to figure out how to get a commission? There is only one mayasuran planet, and there is no npc on it that is giving out comissions? Is there some other way to get a comission?
