I think older forum users are actually just afraid of the change and the influx of thousands of new players. With all their concern they are subconsiusly gatekeeping the game.
What kind of world do you live in where you think users on a forum dictate Alex's thoughts? What a ridiculous claim.
I do not know how you came to the conclusion that I think the forum users dictate Alex's thoughts. I dont think they do. But I think that a lot of people here are needlesly afraid of a wider audience and this, I do not understand.
As for what advantages would a steam EA would bring. Money, a load of money. I don't know how many copies have been sold and at what times but i know a LOT of people who didn't buy it beacause it is not avalible on steam or gog (or even on epic games store). People and especially 20-40 adults with disposable income (the main audiance of any game) REALLY love convinience.
Compare for instance the active user number on the unnofical discord, compared to this forum. It is many times more. Simply beacause discord is a mainstraim social media platform they probably use for a lot of other things and not some dodgey looking website straight outta 2007. (I prefer the forum for exchange of ideas but still...)
I think the extra revenue that Alex would gain from steam right now is probably enough to hire a part time developer to fasten up the work or for simply mainaining the steam sales, probably even more.
99% of people who play this game know it from Sseth or the Spiffing Brit, imagine now that all the normies who watch these channels could simply buy this game on their preferred platform. Imagine if there would be dozens more content creators like them who review and advretise the game as it would be more accesible for them as well.
