No Hammersmith? What's wrong with you!

They're actually named after Bakerloo Line Stations, Hammersmith isn't one of them, I'm afraid.

FORUM RELEASE:

Download Link to the first forum release of the Domain Historical Society

https://github.com/Oshlet/Domain-Historical-Society/files/9273462/Domhist_0.3a.zip

It has been in development for a good long while, but its finally done, with sizable roster of low-midtech ships and accompanying weapons.

Full release is nearing completion, its mostly polish at the moment, filling out missing descriptions and the like. I've also been working on a set of portraits for release, shown below.

An eclectic mix of highly accomplished adventurer historians, domain romantics, pre-collapse administrators and admirals pulled from cryosleep and board members of some of the sector's larger salvaging companies, all part of a single faction that (outwardly, at least) is dedicated to the preservation not only of Domain Law, but of Domain Culture. Using a mix of low tech and midline ships, backed up by an impressive collection of techmined blueprints, the DHS provides modest support to the Hegemony, while retaining most of their forces for exploration into the sector, to discover and protect any domain ruins from the grasp of independent salvagers or, indeed, anyone but themselves.

Ships:

The Techmined ships that make up the majority of DHS forces originate primarily from the late mastery epoch and thus possess solid armour and a mostly ballistic oriented loadout. They also tend towards slightly higher speed and agility than more standard mastery era craft, although at the cost of rather uncompromising internals, making it difficult to outfit them with more advanced weaponry.

Spoiler

Kenton Class Heavy Shuttle
Lightly armed and unshielded, but with a generous cargo hold and high top speed.

Wealdstone Class Line Frigate
Surprisingly agile for its armour level, but lacking in firepower.

Stonebridge Class Support Frigate
Long ranged fire support in a compact package.

Oxford Circus Class Advanced Frigate
High speed, lots of weapons and an incredibly uncomfortable bridge.

Harrow Class Light Destroyer
Impressive mobility and solid weaponry for a low price.

Mule (Albion) Refit
Civilianised and possessing additional berthing, at the cost of armour.

Enforcer (Albion) Refit
A Core Epoch refit of the enforcer with higher speed and side facing energy mounts.

Sunder (Albion) Refit
A modification of the sunder designed to combat phase ships, with a specialised mine launcher.

Harlesden Class Escort Carrier
A pair of decks and a missile launcher, held together by a mess of girders.

Edgeware Class Battle carrier
A diet mora, bringing a pair of medium missiles and one bay to the frontline.

Wembley Class Light Cruiser
Versatile forward facing firepower in a high speed package with a vulnerable rear.

Wembley North Class Fast Carrier
A carrier refit of the Wembley, with wide turret arcs and two decks.

Falcon (Albion) Refit
An older model, with a ballistic-oriented loadout and a burstier alternative to maneuvering jets.

Charing Cross Class Line Cruiser
The core of DHS fleets: slow and hardy, with above average weapon-arcs.

Kilburn Class Support Cruiser
Long range missile support and an advanced targeting system, shrouded in thick armour.

Piccadilly Class Heavy Battlecruiser
A hefty battlecruiser built around a pair of large mounts and a large hangar bay.

Paddington Class Battleship
An exceptionally agile warship with a full 360 degrees of firepower and a massive central cannon.

Major Contributors:

Amazingh:
Implementation of all the fancy systems and weapons I pitched to him, and the whole code side of things.

Vayra:
Getting me started with the modding shenanigans, and sharing a couple of scripts.

Other Contributors:

Nia, Yendorc and HELMUTT for spriting advice, without which would have lead to a rather more ugly mod.

Astarat & Puretilt, Techpriest & Belkie, for getting their own mods done and FOMOing me into finally completing something myself.

Szylva, without which, the mod wouldn't exist, since it originated from me pilfering the design cues from a frigate they did and building a whole faction out of it before redoing every single sprite from scratch.

And everyone else who lurked in the modding section of the starsector discord, shitposting. You're all awful.

They also match quite nicely with the new Ike Class

Its an export version, different weapon mounts compared to the PDPRC version, might not end up being called the manifesto either. I do eventually plan to PDPRC the new sprite too, since the original manifesto is a bit mediocre, looks-wise.

7
If its just the descriptions you're bothered by, you can alter them rather easily by going into the data/hulls/skins and data/hullmods directories and altering them yourself.

8
I've found not installing the mod is the best way to remove the 14th Battelgruep ships. They're some of the few sprites I'm not touching, I think they're fantastic.

9

Work is still progressing on the new sprites, the update will be coming out soontm. In the meantime, here's the updated strikecraft sprites, with a couple of new additions to the top left to give midline some dedicated bombing capability.

A whole swathe of changes will be arriving soon to a Vayra's Ship Pack near you: Sprite changes big and small to a variety of ships from the tiny hail, to the now rather round Typhon, as well as the addition of the few new ships, some filling new roles in the ship roster. I hope you enjoy the eye candy while you wait.

Very nice job on the qianzi. Glad to see its not a greeblepear anymore.

General Discussion / Re: Whats your favorite capital ship
« on: February 26, 2020, 10:13:03 PM »
Vanilla wise I'd have to say the Conquest is my favourite capital. Decently speedy and packs a lot of firepower. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the gauss cannon build, generally I use twin mjolnirs if I can get my hands on them, backed up with hurricanes or squalls depending on what I'm expecting to fight. The missile slots are fantastic for adding extra punch to the ship, and with mjolnirs, I can put flak in the medium ballistics on both sides.

Its just got a bit of everything you need in a capital, aside from durability, but you can generally sidestep that with the ship system.

Have you tried GIMP at all? It has a lot of the same functionality as photoshop without being tied to adobe's weird subscription thing. I was able to switch over fairly easily myself.
