General Discussion / weapon groups?

i seem remember being able to save groups of weapons for a specific ship type by way of saving a specific name for each grouping. this was handy on ships that tend to blow up so that i can create multiples of the same ship quickly. was this a feature that a mod added or was this in the base game, because i cant seem to do it anymore.
