Do they matter for importing/exporting resources? Is there some kind of LY limit where colonies will not get the provided in-faction modifier?

General Discussion / I still don't know how to loadout a ship

I've been playing for so long and I'm yet unsure of how the best equip my ships, well, that and the game has changed and whenever I restarted playing since 0.95, the same tactics I used before do not work anymore, I drop the game, then come back after like a few months, to fail again, ad infinitum. I also hated the skill changes but whatever, I've told myself to try them out more.

I'm just not patient enough to test the AI (beyond just putting it 1v1 against something) and see what loadout is best for it so I followed some rules like more Kinetic than Explosive for AI with neutral dissipation and always filling up the missile slots, usually with mixed (default, harpoons and sabots) types. But it's not really working out. I'm trying to beat bigger REDACTED fleets especially, because everything else kind of automatically melts as long as you have ships loaded out at all.

What are the rules for loadouts now? More explosive than kinetic? Same as? Does dissipation matter that much anymore? Holw about hull features? Range?  ??? I'm too clueless.

It's kind of weird but Starsector often gives me RAM errors, and I have enough free RAM galore while I run the game. I also have weird FPS drops despite my system not even being pressured in any way (running at sub-60 fps, like 44 fps in some fights that aren't even that big).

OS: Windows 10 x64
RAM: 32 GB
Graphics Card: RTX 3090
CPU: Ryzen 9 3950x

Is there a problem with the new version maybe? Is there anyone else with this issue? Did anyone solve it with some workaround?

Fighting a Nexus for example is pain because the AI doesn't seem to understand the idea of "cover those that have too much flux" like I do, and they don't really cover me when I'm the one in trouble even with Escort.
Escort actually seems to make them more prone to just tanking all the time, meaning they get in the way.
I'm pretty sure people have already found the best ways to get around and know how to use commands, so instead of making a "Commands suck/AI suck" thread, I'd rather ask the community to see if you know better ways to solve this issue, maybe through waypoints or specific commands?

I mean, it's fine, I eventually destroy the Nexus with few losses, but those losses could have just been avoided. Sometimes I think the enemy AI is just better at grasping the situation than my AI. I'd often see enemy AIs cover for the heavy fluxed ship while it retreats behind to vent. Mine don't seem to want to do that, instead they'd rather tank vent and leave me or any other ship out in the open like they don't give a ***.
Is it also based on composition maybe?
I use Eagles, Champions, Onslaughts, Legions and Sunders.

Hello, I'm kind of in a dilemma right now since even verifying this is quite difficult and for me the differentiation seems rather odd in the status of the planets.
Is "No Atmosphere" the only one that can use Synchrotron Core or are "Thin Atmosphere", "Toxic Atmosphere" etc also good enough to fit this prerequisite?

Also, does the Orbital Fusion Lamp change a planet from Hot to Extreme Heat? I have a Cryoarithmetic Engine that I want to use together with a Synchroton, a Pristine Nanoforge and Autonomous Mantle Bore but damn, it's kind of difficult to find a good planet.
I haven't played the game in ages, so I don't even know or remember, are there bonuses to closeby colonies? Do I need to build Heavy Industries for all of them so their fleets don't suck or is it still ok to have only one and it functions globally?
