Well the subject kinda says it all. Which feature(s) do you think are the best in the game and which ones do you think are not as good and could do with a bit of improvement?

For me the best feature so far would be the shields. It's awesome especially with the ones that follow the mouse which add that little bit more to the game.

The one that could be improved imo would probably be the weapon ranges as some of them at the moment seem a little poor.

Bug Reports & Support / Disabled ship bug?

Basically I went to transfer control of my ship to this troop carrier, however before my shuttle thing got to the troop carrier it blew up (the carrier) however my shuttle landed as normal. I wasn't able to move the ship or anything and it still said I was in the shuttle however it couldn't be seen anywhere nor did the game end (like it normally does when a ship is destroyed when you're controlling it).

However I didn't try switching ships (because the other one was far away and blew up before I could do anything lol).

Is this a bug? Should it force you to pick another ship to control?

General Discussion / Competition for fun

Just to pass the time I'm putting up a competition (no prizes or deadlines).

The aim is to play the mission "Dire Straights" or "Nothing Personal" and get the highest score you can.
The rules are simple

  • You have three attempts and you pick the best one
  • No mods are allowed to be used for this
  • A screenshot of the score must be provided of the scores (SYSRQ is the default hot key)

Suggestions / Ability to comment of member's profiles

This is more of a suggestion for the forum, can it be made possible that members can comment on each others profiles because at the moment we are unable to do so.

Anyone agree with this? Please comment with your opinions.

Bug Reports & Support / Zooming in whilst on tactical map

Not sure if you count this as a bug. But when in the tactical map and you zoom in, it always zooms towards the centre of the map regardless of where you are looking or where the cursor is. Should it be like this or should it zoom towards the cursor?

Not really a bug for the game but for the forum.
I cannot seem to reply to a message in my inbox.
I've tried quoting and replying to the message but none seem to send. Anyone know why?

Thought I'd start one because there isn't one yet. I know it's not exactly Starfarer related however this isn't an "Off topic" section for me to put it.

As for the thread itself, talk about anything and everything as long as they adhere to the following rules

Suggestions / Merc/Bandit bases/hideouts?

If I remember the game is going to be sandbox right? so like free roam and stuff.

In that case how epic would bandit bases and hideouts be?

Could be placed randomly with random ships and you could loot ships and weapons and stuff.

Sorry if any of the following suggestions have been mentioned before.
Suggestions

General
-Mini quests (From factions?)
-Contracts (Protect trade ships, explore specific areas, kill criminals etc)
-Toggle-able minimap
-Ability to repair ships at a space station... at a cost
-Ability to scrap ships to gain a fraction of the cost back (damaged ships)
-Ability to sell ships for majority of the cost back (new/full health ships)
-Ability to play custom music from a folder inside the installation directory
-Download via launcher (checks your version against the downloadable one and if there's a difference download the newer one)
-All tips available through codex
-High score system for players to compare
-Difficulty settings for free roam (affects damage you take and deal)
Mercenary faction
-Neutral to everyone
-Hire/Recruit Mercenaries (Both you and other factions)
-Pay Mercenaries to do misc tasks e.g. Raid trade routes
-Ability to Join this faction
Other factions
-Good faction - Friendly to everyone except bad faction
-Bad faction - Hostile to everyone except Mercenaries
Diplomacy
-Actions affect how factions feel towards you e.g. attacking a faction will cause them to dislike you whilst it may gain the favor of others
-Ally with factions
-Trade bonuses with factions
-Truces and non aggression treaties
-Buy stronger ships depending on the relationship with the given faction
-Factions want certain tech (can sell weapons specialising in that tech for a higher price)
Combat
-Ship sections - If they are damaged enough then they become unusable until repaired
-Specialised shields - One's that absorb more damage for energy for example but offer little resistance to ballistic weaponary
-Different types of armour - Self repairing (slow), energy resistant, weakened armour to make up for faster speed or slower flux build up
-Attachments - Advanced rader (Wider LOS), better engines, quicker flux cool down and slower build up
-Faction bonuses - E.g. one faction could have faster ships and another could have stronger armour
-Overcharge weapons (for more damage during the shot of that weapon at the expense of a longer recharge time)
Perks
-Engineering (Weapon reload time reduced)
-Flux Specialist (Flux buildup reduce, higher maximum flux)
-Demolitionist (Stronger explosive weaponry)
-Barterer (Better prices at dealers)
-Mechanic (Ships auto-repair)
-Explorer (Better line of sight)
-Weapons expert (Better weapons range and fire speeds)
