Bug Reports & Support / Resolution not scaling?

I start starsector and the screen becomes a small square in the upper left of my screen. No matter what resolution I try. I do have a 4k display but doesn't give option.
Is there a way around this to play?

It seems ever since I installed .9r10 version with the same mods and everything,some weird stuff happens. The first thing is that there seems to be no black market ships in the beginning part of game in Corvus sector. Then when I went to Asharu, the market there had 6 fuel tankers and no other ships. I also noticed when I went to the pirate station area,there were like 3-5 2 ship squads patrolling the area. It was the same ships no matter what spawned.
I figured ok,I will go to another sector and see what's up. Still the same no matter where I went. Except the fleets were bigger with more of the same pigeon ships. I did select easy for the first time on diffuculty,so maybe that's it.
I'm just wondering if it's a bug with a mod with the new version or is easy adjusted in away like this now.

Bug Reports & Support / Saves in folder,but won't load?

I was playing Starsector last night and then I get home and reboot my pc with internet,the only thing different and now Starsector doesn't recognize any saves I have in folder. There are 2 there right now,any ideas why I can;t load them. I haven't changed the version of Starsector or added any mods.

Alright before I get to the topic I just wanted to say of few things. First off when I first bought this game several years ago,I think I paid like 8 bucks. Now after this release and all the fun I'm having and how rich game play features have been overhauled and implemented, I'm just really happy. Maybe it's the Holidays or I feel like a cheapskate for getting this awesome game so cheap..but....yep I'm doing it. I'm buying another copy to support Alex's hard work and to really say THANK YOU!

So who's with me in buying another copy to support this awesome game and to say thanks.  Who knows maybe if enough friends join me,we might be able to give Alex a nice Holiday bonus for all his hard work.
With that said.....HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!

If the game is several months away from .9 then could we please get a development post on what has been happening. Normally there about a month apart and now it's been a month in a half. I'm just so excited to play that I need something to read to help with my fixation. Thanks Alex! ;)

It's almost here guys,I hope. It looks like post are about a month to a month and a half away,so any day now we should get some info. I honestly can't wait for every month to pass to get me excited for the actual release of .9. Farcry 5 is coming up and I'm like yeah but Starsector is coming in soon and I want to play that game more. lol Hope all is well Alex and can't wait for your post. :)

I'm so excited about the next version of Starsector,I just finished reading the development post. However not to be negative but I would like to know a few things hopefully that will be fixed for the next version.
Will the save freeze crash be fixed from using mods?
Will the performance be improved with all the new additions to sustain more mods or are we looking at running less mods? For example I love using faction ship mods but after you get about 6 different ones with Dynasector and Nexarilen I encounter a save freeze bug. Please don't tell me I have a potato when my pc runs any new game on ultra with mods as well. I've seen several topics and several post about this as well and I feel that it would be nice to know what's going with this.
I also wanted to know if we could get a scroll feature when we first start a save game and it shows the mod list.The reason being once you have too many mods installed you can only see the page size and none of the rest.

If anyone has any ideas about performance or improvements feel free to add.
I do love this game and with all the new features coming I will be sinking several hundred more hours into it. ;)

I'm just saying this because I've been so excited reading the last 2 post. I know it's still several months away but these post are awesome,with the pictures and 2000 word descriptions.I mean how many developers actually spend the time to type that much for what's coming soon in a game,not many. Alex does though and thank you for making a awesome game.Thanks to all the people who create mods as well,I appreciate you! :)

Ok, so first let me say that I have watched Nemo play Starsector for awhile on Youtube.I have downloaded all his mods that he is currently playing and it seems he is able to run all the mods.I understand there is some information to give so here I go.

I also have updated all my drivers and my java. I have made every game and java run with my Gpu. I have allocated 4gb and then 8gb in the vprams folder.
Starsector has a fresh install and the game runs fine until I explore a few sectors and then when I go to save game is slows to a crawl and then hangs up.
Why can't I run all these mods? Please someone help because I really love this game and want to enjoy all these mods.

When it list the mods from highlighting your save in the load screen. How do you scroll up to see the mods that are cut off from screen?  I Imagine it only happens when you have a lot of mods..

If you pick a faction at start of game,is there a way to start your own faction?
I saw Diable Avionics has a officer at some stations that allow you to join them from a faction chosen start.
Can we start our own faction at any time or just at the start of campaign?

Ok,so I love this game and have a bad habit of wanting every mod added to the game.However I've noticed that the game seems to crash a lot on "Save or Copy Save".

First I will display my pc specs and all mods.

Intel i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz  2.80Ghz Hyper Threaded
16.0 GB Ram
64 bit Operating System
Intel Graphics HD 4600
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870m

The list of mods I use:

Ok,so some mods have different versions so only one is selected,but for the most part thit is what I'm trying to play with.
The question to moders or players:
Is it possible to run all these mods together or have you had issues?
Perhaps my pc isn't enough?
What should I do from here with the mods?

I consider myself a new player, but I have played for several hours in vanilla and some mods.If the information I ask is here on the forums somewhere then please post links.I decided to get right to the point and just ask the questions.

Is there a manual or a guide?
Is there a list of ships from vanilla that explains what there purpose is?
How do you know what ships are good in the beginning to late game?
Is there any ships that can be viable through the whole game?
How do you know what weapons are better than others besides price or amount of points it cost?
What are the best ships for trading,bounty hunting?
What are the best strategies for turning on/off your transponder and does it work with larger fleets?
When equipping a ship,should you vary the different damage types or just make them all kinetic or ballistic etc.?

Please understand that I ask these questions to help very new players as well and perhaps learn some new techniques from other players on how,why, on what they choose for ships.
I know some players would say play the game and figure it out.That's what I do but with all the mods that add other mechanics,maybe a basic guide would be helpful to refer to.I understand that the answers to some of these questions will vary depending on play style and the role they play in starsector.This information is exactly what I'm looking for.Perhaps other players can ask more questions and make a guide if there isn't one already.

General Discussion / Help with modded starsector...

Ok so I have downloaded Nemos list of mods and installed the java runtime se and allocated 4gb of ram of which I have 16.
Starsector runs fine and I get 60fps but anytime I'm in battle my ship is not there and trails of my firing range start to accumulate when I move and become a blur pattern.
Does anyone know what might cause this....I have updated drivers and stuff but I'm wondering if there is a setting that needs to be turned off or changed.Thanks

I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this,it only happens during combat.
I've updated everything and it all worked on .7.1
I'm not sure if there is some setting in shaderlib I could adjust?
