Suggestions / Mission quick restart

I like some missions more than others and play them often. Sometimes I replay a mission ten times in a row or more, to achieve maximum score or just for fun.

When I see I cannot win or have taken too many losses I want to restart and try better. Now it takes four or five mouse clicks and a substantial amount of waiting while transition animation plays. Please add an option to quick restart current mission.

I see two suitable places for Restart button, First, in the in-battle menu (shown when Esc is pressed) and second, in the battle outcome dialog.

Oh, and it would be nice if battle order will remain the same upon quick restart in Random Battle mission.

Suggestions / Provide incremental updates

Release packages without JRE and containing only files that have changed since previous release. The point is to reduce download size. I understand that in these days of Gigabit home connections this sounds ridiculous, but there are still places in the world with metered and/or unstable 3G connections. And there are Starsector fans living there!

Such diff package can easily be made with tools like KDiff3.

Suggestions / Warn about critical damage during combat

It would be nice if the game informs you about one of your ships suffering critical hull damage and it's time to withdraw it from battle.
Just the way it does for ships losing CR.

In Iron mode, there's still an option to exit game without saving during combat.

Suggestions / Enhance battle outcome screen

1. Currently, in missions this screen displays enemy ships' state after the battle, but not player's ones. All player's ships are shown at 100% hull and armor. And in simulation, we don't have even that. Displaying this info for player's fleet will help evaluate battle outcome in detail.

2. It would be helpful to have various battle stats for both sides, such as:
  • Casualties, by rank
  • Total armor, in numbers and %, and compared to that before the battle
  • Total hull integrity, same as above
  • Damage dealt & taken, by type
  • Rockets/torpedoes fired, hits and misses, by rocket type
  • Total CR lost, expressed in suplies needed to recover.
  • Total CR lost due to extended deployment, expressed in suplies needed to recover.

This info will help to evaluate and compare effectiveness of different ships variants, fleet compositions and tactics.

3. Add option to copy battle report to clipboard for sharing and discussion. Several levels of detail would be handy.

Bug Reports & Support / Weapon groups switching

I've noticed a minor change in 0.65.2a: weapon groups cannot be switched while on pause. This is inconvenient. Is it a bug or intentional change?
