General Discussion / New player here, love this game

Probably a story you've heard a thousand times before. Watched SSeth's video, then a couple of Rarr's videos, then tried the game. After playing for the entire day (where did the time go?), I bought it. First, congratulations to the devs for making this, haven't had this much fun playing games in a while. Second, thanks to all the modders for making it even better.
I'm currently on my third playthrough (modded), but I want to share my first one, which I consider finished. No guides, just going by intuition, and playing on Easy mode.
Seed: MN-6288957131097104533 (started on 0.96a-RC8, updated to RC10). No screenshots, since those are too big to fit in the attachment limits.
I settled in Alpha Armun binary star system, 15 light years away to the east of Hegemony space. I think I managed to find a pretty decent system.
2 stable locations. Colonized 5 out of 9 planets:
- Volcanic 250% Hazard, +3/+3 Ore/Rare Ore. Houses Orbital Works with Corrupted Nanoforge and High Command with Cryoarithemtic Engine (Extreme Heat, baby!).
- Arid 100% Hazard, +1 Food, -1 Ore, +1 Organics. Light Industry with Biofactory Embryo, Farming with Soil Nanites, Combat Drone Replicator and Fullerene Spool.
- Gas Giant 175% Hazard, +1 Volatiles with Plasma Dynamo.
- Rocky Metallic 175% Hazard, Refining with Catalytic Core, Fuel Production with Synchrotron Core.
- Barren 200% Hazard, Refining and Fuel Production with Synchrotron Core.
Pushing 300k net income monthly, 25M in the bank. No AI core usage, I'm Cooperative with the Hegemony and cores are not worth the trouble.
There are 2 gates 7 light years away, one directly east in a triple star system (Black Hole/ Red Giant/ Yellow Star), and one north-west in Kang (Blue Supergiant).
There is a Cryosleeper 6 LY away, south-east in Tlalost Legila (Orange Star, also Terran and Arid habitable worlds), unfortunately by the time I learned what this thing does, my colonies were already at 6 pop.
I found two Hypershunts, but both are nowhere useful - one in top-left corner of the map, in Mokosh, second straight north from my system, in Brigador. Haven't fought Doritos yet, I'm struggling with [REDACTED], so I don't think I'm ready.
I handled Planetkiller to the Hedge like a fool, so Pathers are a giant pain in the ass with the Hostile Activity mechanic. I was constantly raiding their colonies out of spite, and managed to decivilize Epiphany, but Chalcedon for some reason won't follow suit - is there a story protection perhabs?
I managed to find both Oddyssey and Paragon blueprints, but no decent weapon blueprints for them. There are still plenty of ruins/orbitals to salvage, and weapon dealers will cover it in the meantime.
I found out that I really like piloting fast frigates - my current flagship is a Hyperion, 2 Heavy Blasters + Heavy Machinegun with SO. I love this thing. Skills are not focused on piloting though - I only have Combat Endurance and Energy Weapon Mastery, my build is focused on fleet wide and industry buffs.
Thanks for reading. Right now, I'm playing with Ashes of the Domain/Industrial Evolution as core mods (no Nex, since it tanks my framerate), and enjoying blowing *** up with Wanzer swarms. I think I'll commision with Diable Avionics after finding a good system to settle in...
Any tips in fighting the [REDACTED]? I find myself always outranged, and bastards either kite with their agile frigates, or just YOLO in with big ships. Is their insane ECM rating worth counteracting, or should I just ignore it?
