Modding / Help with the modding tutorials

Hi all,
I’ve recently tried to get into modding and followed the tutorials to set up IDEs for VS and IntelliJ.
Though I followed the steps closely, I ran into problems that I could not find solutions for, such as the files that had to be edited being read-only, or being presented with a syntax error when I copied
in the code for the JDK.
Any help would be appreciated
