The topic has come up before, several times in fact.

But something I would like to see, most likely as a mod, would be.. A mobile colony. Something like the Mothership from Homeworld. Or High Charity from Halo.

Rather than it be an actual ship in your fleet. I'm thinking it would work similar to how the [DOMAIN RESTRICTED] works. Where you can designate a destination, probably at a significant resource cost, and it will somewhat slowly move itself over there, escorted by whatever fleets your faction can muster, and then park itself in orbit around a planet or into a stable location. And once it gets there, you can interact with it like any other station you can find in the game already.

Income and resources depends on what you got built industry wise, and what's in the star system to gather. With probably no income or resource output when it's in motion.

Hell, being able to install industries into your capital ships would be a cool thing too, you'd probably have to strip out most things that would make it effective at pretty much anything else though.. Maybe you'd have to like.. place the ships in orbit or in a stable location (With enough ships to guard them from attacks?) for them to be able to actually harvest resources and produce things. But you could still take them into your fleet and lug them around when you aren't using them to produce things; or maybe tell them to move towards a location, like how the detachment feature of IndEvo works..

Is it weird that, with all the drama related to modding right now. I've gotten a strange feeling that I want to dip my own hands into the crazy and scary world of Java?
It's like. UAF, Ironshell and PAGSM (though I haven't tried PAGSM yet) does something that I want on a whole. Which is being able to just interact more with the people inside the game, be more immersed, live more in the world of Starsector.

And yes.. the forbidden mod that sparked all this did add one part that I liked (Yes I tried it. Streisand effect, Morbid curiosity, being slightly perverted as it already is (Roleplaying on Wow ruined my innocence) and all that. The darker parts that continues to be.. like.. In your face, with no option to turn it off, eventually turned me away from the mod though.), which was being able to interact and sort of form relationships with your officers. Allowed you to interact with them and yes.. form romances. Far more wholesome than the name would suggest.

I probably won't end up doing it, ADHD mixed with Autism makes it difficult to get anything done really, and I already got a million other things I want to do, but aren't. But yeah.. because of all that has happened the past few weeks, I just got a really strong urge to pry open the hood on some mods. Poke around in their internals and see what makes them tick and work.

At most I've been able to like.. make a few chatter characters for myself, and made a custom star system. That's where the easy parts ended I feel like.

To the point, I've infrequently crashed to desktop at the end of battles or in the middle of them. With the message "Fatal: Null - Check starsector.log for more info." Finding this file provides me with this (I think it's the important bit of the crash report, do tell me if you want the whole thing.)

I am unsure where the problem lies, I do run a handful of mods, (Realistic Combat, Combat chatter, Fleet Action History, Fuel Siphoning, LazyLib, MagicLib, Autosave and Terraforming & Stations), and I have a feeling its perhaps the realistic combat mod? If so I shall post a bug report there as well. But I felt I should put it up here since it involves the "Special ships", the automated defences around a Hypershunt that breaks apart into smaller ships when destroyed? (I don't actually know the name of them yet) It crashes a second or two after one of them breaks up.

The other time it happens is right after a battle has been concluded. Mostly with pirates (as those are the ones I fight the most) and mostly when it comes to very large pirate fleets. I've been able to circumvent the issue by just.. not doing the battle, but it's not always I can do that, and since it happens so infrequently and I've honestly no idea when it will happen.. I've sometimes lost an hour or so of progress because I forgot to save.

Anyway, I hope I can find what the issue is so I can figure out what the Hypershunt is for, and learn what these entities are.
