General Discussion / Nebula + Deep Hyperspace speed
« on: January 16, 2022, 04:53:20 AM »
Apologies if this was asked before, but I want to know the specifics of the fleet max speed reduction when flying through difficult terrain (doing some exploration at the moment).

For example currently I have a 30-ship fleet with all ships between 10 and 11 max burn and a navigation skill.
10 cruisers, 10 destroyers and 10 frigates.

Standard max burn for me is 20, but in the nebula or deep hyperspace I have 0.65 reduction applied and burn level is 14.
Tried removing 5 cruisers from the fleet, but the numbers didn't change for 25-ship fleet. (still 20 and 14).

At the same time - a solo Apogee cruiser with augmented drive field can fly 20 speed everywhere without ever slowing down.

So basically, what is the function between fleet composition and terrain slowdown effects.

How does ship quantity relate to the terrain slowdown - what are the thresholds?
How do ships sizes in fleet relate to the terrain movement? (i.e. what happens if the largest ship is cruiser/destroyer/capital or all frigates?, proportion of bigger ships to smaller ones matters?)

Appreciate if someone can shed some light.
